I think you are wrong. We are up to our necks in it this season. I think our best is the best there is

Hopefully we are timing our run and find our best football towards the end of the season... still have the wins on the board but not convincing atm.

  2. The next two weeks will tell us if we are genuinely a top 4 team, big improvement needed.. I've resigned to thinking we are not at that level this year, without the ball we are the best defence that's keeps us in games but our skills and knowledge of how to present as a opption all over the field we are last imo.hope to be proven wrong

  3. We seem to be playing well below our best... poor disposals connection issues and seem to make easy passages of play hard. Other teams always seem to find time and space and are better at kicking to advantage, these are basics especially for a team that has been consistently top 4. On the plus side after all this we sit 5 and 2 and in a strong position, Can we flick the switch and find our best when I counts?

It’s clearly been decided that match-time is a key ingredient for getting him back to his best.

So many of our players (and across the league) were obviously struggling after an intense period of the fixture, so early in the season. Clarry more so than the average player, for reasons known.

Assuming his hand is right enough, I think he’ll be better-off for those matches and a decent recovery period.

Fair point, but he could hardly hold the footy last week, we were effectively one player down... would rather give someone else some experience against a lesser opposition, and get him cherry ripe

    Why?

I would have to agree unless he is in peak physical condition, don't play him we should be good enough to beat the tigers anyway... we need Clarry at his absolute best again. It will create positive energy and confidence amongst the team seeing him at his peak, last week was not good for him or us

Our footy club has not had a 'true' home since 1964. Accordingly,  I cannot understand any negativity directed toward this proposal.  Caulfield is a central location, close to public transport and for the first time in a long time, will house both our administrative and football departments in the same facility.

How on earth can that be seen as negative?

Question.  Is there any club that makes their players drive over an hour to get to training sessions at Cranbourne or sometimes 90 minutes in heavy traffic.  Not sure it’s favourable compared with Cats, Bombers, Pies, Blues training arrangements.  Caulfield would be a perfect location.  Make it happen and like Geelong, made the state government pay for it !!!!

My question is, once built, will it be competitive with other clubs facilities, would it attract players etc? Also where in the diagram are the club administrative facilities proposed?

    Oliver - Shouldn't have played.

Clearly hampered by the hand, couldn't pick up the ball, couldn't grab an opponent, it was like trying to play with one arm.  Hopefully it gets sorted during the break and he's back to his best soon.

It's so obvious to us his injured so why play him? Would have been the perfect time time I've him a extended break to get fit and firing...

Facts are without Oliver and Tracc fit and in form we are not a top 4 side

  8. Love the mentally and CULTURE this team is building... I've noticed we are one of the only teams that everyone in the club rooms including players who didn't get selected singing the song and getting involved, this must be what Goody and Pert were referring to when they said you will see our culture come to the fore.

My only concern is we may be playing players banged up and under duress ie, Clarry,s hand Maysey and a couple others who look sore, it's a long season we need the team fresh and firing at the right time thoughts please?

Today we’ll find out if we’re a challenger this year. Dry weather football at the G. No weather excuses, and barring some unforeseen injury crisis, we’ll get a proper look.

Yes, just worried about being to tall, and no cohesion with 5 ins...

Also our talls are nowhere near as mobile as theres

Shall we start a Get Logan McDonald thread as well?

He look a ripper last night and Sydney are facing significant SC squeeze due to topping up Grundy's contract beyond what we were paying last year. Apparently Grundy now on over $1mill, Swans paying about $750k, according to Sam Landsberger

Add Zurhar to the list, maybe we can do a who would you pick? 🤣

Really great piece of fantasy. Think about it !!
Mo din of a champion clubman and player like Luke D is going to swap Clubs at 20 years of age.

Really just because we pluck a name out of the air really have some concrete evidence how  are going to  persuade Dam NOW to switch.

10 for picking an iron in the fire.
NOUGHT for realism and common sense.

If we are not aleast selling the dream to come to the dees and be a one two partnership with roo, playing senior footy getting very well paid we are not serious abut winning another flag soon

I think that a lot of D supporters and players underestimated Swans last week, feeling a little better about the loss tonight, great effort Swans and Heeney is a ripper.

The swans with players missing smashed the pies, we lost by 20 odd in a swamp!!!

It might be a nice idea to have the opening round in the northern states, but the reality of the ball slipping around like an ice cube made the game very ordinary. They were just more used to the conditions.
There were a few centre bounce infringements that were missed when Brodie stopped Max’s access to the ball. Geelong uses a similar system.
Perhaps we should have a preseason camp in Sunshine Coast to get used to the slippery ball.

One of the swans players mentioned how they trained in those slippery conditions all preseason, so il give us an out there. Next week will be the real mfc24 no need to panic yet.

If we can net a month of solid footy from BBB, will give Petts enough time to get his foot/toe right hopefully.

I would prefer us to give Shache a decent run of 3/4 games get his confidence up rucking the forward line 50/50 with Roo, and provides a tall target, as long as he competes, BBB can't last more than 3 games with his knees. Shache is still young enough and is a good kick. He won't cost us a game even if he plays poorly along as he doesn't get out marked so that's the key to his position in the team, also give petty plenty time to get ready and can play both ends when required

Why exactly is Josh Schache on the MFC list if he can't get a game in the opening round? Is he not fit?  Is he totally unable to follow any instruction? Is he a massive liability in game to the extent it means an immediate loss?  He played in a grand final less than 10 games ago.  This isn't a matter of 'hunger' or 'appetite' or 'insert your prefered metaphysical football term here'.  He was presumably signed to be a break in case of emergency when he was resigned last year.   Are we waiting for every player to be unavailable and selecting him last?

We have no back up ruck, under30 3rd tall and he's kicked more goals than JVR and Petty combined, if the FD department can't fashion a role for him why bother even paying him.  He isn't a project player.

Time to give him 4 solid weeks in the team, tell him its make or break your career
