Why would we want another medium sized midfielder who hunts the ball?

As it is we are playing Harmes and Brayshaw out of position and we have others waiting in the wings:  Sparrow, Jordan etc.

Have we not learnt our lesson yet

Isn’t he more of an outside mid?

I'll put my balls on the line for ya mate. A few things have already happened, but got some whispers (of varying degrees of source quality) to tide you over. (Need the distraction from the Grand Final tbh, depressing)

    OUT
TMac - All depends on medicals (ankle injury). Player and club want the change, opposition interest will determine it.
ANB - Apparently some interest from the Crows. Not a lot of noise tho, but tbf he's not an exciting player to talk about.
Preuss - Melbourne will try and do a deal to see them go up the draft order. Very keen on Macrae, who they think will be available at pick 9 (which coincidentally is likely the compo pick GWS will get for Williams).
Coaches - Plapp and Mathews gone. Very likely more to follow them.
Admin - Told earlier in the year Mahoney is likely gone. Haven't heard anything lately though. Richardson talked about as a potential replacement for him. Very very sketchy at this stage so don't bank on this one, but not sure Bartlett is 100% safe either.
Other - Still think Burgess will leave (hoping he doesn't of course).

    IN
B.Brown - Pending physical, which will determine the club's interest and offer which likely then determines Brown's decision. 2nd round pick to North and a 3 year deal on 500k for Brown is the price. I know some here have talked about his nature/personality, but apparently after the zoom meeting Max was absolutely sold on him.
I.Smith - Very likely, but not a done deal yet.
Saints Player - Told we were chasing a 'young, quick' Saints player. Others here posted they heard Hind was being mentioned, so could be him, potentially could be Long.
Coaches - Leppitsch has been approached, ball totally in his court. Another former Lion also approached to get involved with the club in some capacity too (not Voss). 2 other highly rated assistants in the pipeline, but promised I wouldn't say.

Any idea what we would have to give up (along with Pruess), for pick 9? Would be very happy if we could draft Macrae.

Collingwood apparently making some inquiries about TMac

Heard about interest over a month ago, long before it hit the press, so it might have some legs. Heard from the Pies end, not ours.

Don't know mate, only interest I've heard of was the Collingwood talk in the media.

Not sure on Dogs, first thought is if he's too slow for their style? Could the Hawks be an option? They love an injured recruit.

I heard about the Collingwood link, over a month before it reached the media, so there might be something to it. This was from the Collingwood end, not us though.

  5. As I’ve said before, the Pies have been looking at Tom for at least 5 weeks now, so they have at least been thinking about trading for him. I wouldn’t mind a trade of Tmac for Phillips, if it also meant we could bring Brown in, but it would all come down to how much we are prepared to pay of Tom’s salary. As others have said though, it looks like Smith is our first preference on the wing.

  6. In case you didn't see my post on the other TMac thread. About five weeks ago, I made a post saying the Pies might be into Tom. I had heard this. The fact that there is still interest from them, suggests that the interest may be legit. I'm pretty sure they also mentioned him playing down back.

Before our last game, I talked to someone, who is closer than most to the Pies, & he raised Tom’s name. I laughed and said you can have him for a 4th or 5th round pick, and that he obviously doesn’t watch a lot of Dees games. Later on I thought maybe I shouldn’t have said that. He also went on to say how good Dunn had been for them. I know it sounds crazy, with the Pies needing cap space, but this is what I heard.

Linked TMac to the Pies (above), nearly 5 weeks ago. The fact that they are still named in the Fox Footy article about Tom, suggests there may be some substance to the rumour.

Bit of a long one, bear with me here mates...

GWS only have picks 40, 46, 68 82 (etc) at this stage this year. With a few players already possibly on the way out and maybe more to come, I think they're expecting a few earlier picks to come in yet (trade and FA compo). Given we're in a similar-ish situation draft pick wise, I wonder if we'd consider shipping off Preuss and a pick to get one (or more) of the earlier picks GWS will have come in?

The trade currency required for Brown would still have to be considered, but we could look at giving them a future pick given they're in a world of hurt atm.

It's almost always a complicated big picture by the end, but if we could do the following, I'd consider it a win:

OUT: Preuss, Pick 23, ANB, Hunt, OMac, TMac, 2021 2nd round pick

IN: Pick 9 (GWS compo), Ben Brown, Isaac Smith (FA), Pick 20-25ish (after a mess of trading players and picks for points), Pick 44 (ANB to Crows)

Draft wise leaves us with 9, 20-25, and some picks around 40-50 (which obviously may be pushed back a little this year).

Pick 9 opens up the option of players like Archie Perkins, Finlay Macrae or Nikolas Cox, all of whom would fill needs (eventually) for us.

I would be very happy with this, or a similar outcome. Like the thought of Macrae in the team.

At $700 to 750,000 for two more years, I would take a Second Round Pick in a heartbeat, if there was any likelihood of him playing at Casey.

I would take any pick in a heartbeat, for a salary dump, then bring in Ben Brown

Not worth a new thread, but Sam Edmund reporting Devon Smith and Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti are unhappy at the Bombers. Would we have a crack at either? Could Smith play on a wing for us? Tippa would be amazing IMO.

Kozzie & Tippa, I like the sound of that!

I've mentioned it before in this thread. I would love Xavier O'Halloran from GWS. We might need to throw in a small sweetener to get it over the line.

Otherwise, I think the club should be looking at future picks and continue avoiding this draft.

Personally, if it was GWS, I would give them Pruess & the Hawks 2nd rounder for Bobby Hill, but I doubt it would happen

    Why??

Swapping an in demand 25yo ruckman for a 32yo, surely we’ve gone  past recycled old premiership players

Sydney, GWS & Hawthorn are after him & he’s got 2 years left on his contract, play hardball with him & we should get overs

Do you think we will get better than a late 2nd/early 3rd for Pruess? Also who are you thinking of on our other wing?
