  1. "It is unclear how long it will take Bennell to progress again but this hurdle is typically the one before players step up to join full training, even in a limited capacity."

This line is what interests me. I'm only speculating, but let's say he's 3 weeks away from completely joining the group in full training. He then trains for 5 full weeks before he's given game time in the VFL. Plays well there, gets through uninjured, and is given 3 full games, hypothetically, he could be playing AFL in round 10 or 11.

  2. 11 scoring shots to 5. That's 6 more, with 5 of them being quite simple set shots. I know it's only a practice match, bit I'm quite disapointed with that. We need to improve our accuracy for the season proper or we'll lose a few games off our own boot.

Yes, but Freo, I believe, will have the right to match any bid on draft night - we won't have that opportunity.

(If he and Freo make a father/son agreement prior to the draft.)

He has the choice to chose if he wishes to nominate with us under Father/Son or nominate with them under Father/Son/Academy. If he chooses us, only we can match a bid. Same if he chooses Freo, only they can.

It's similar with a Bulldogs player who chose not to nominate with Sydney a few years ago under Father/Son because he didn't want to go there as his family was in East Gippsland and thus Sydney could not match any bids.

The player has to nominate if they wish to go to a club under the rules of Academy or Father/Son, the club can not nominate for them.

Note: The Club also has to accept taking the player under those rules for them to nominate a club. Essentially, both parties must agree for nomination.

I wouldn't bank on it being available after the fact. I can't remember what the situation was last year with the Collingwood game and whether it was available post match.

The wording of the announcement of the stream only mentions "if you can't make it to Arden Street for the clash, you'll be able to watch the game live on melbournefc.com.au and via the club's mobile app".

We were able to watch a replay of the Collingwood match. They put all 4 quarters up as separate segments on the website. With commentary and all.

  5. When there are long gaps between Melbourne tweets there are either 2 things happening. Either neither team is scoring, or Essendon is scoring. I tend to think it is the later rather than the former.

Regardless, with the players we're using compared to them, I'm taking nothing from this game. Unless we win of course.

  6. " “There’s probably only one or two guys that are in danger of missing Round 1 that haven’t been on the long-term injury list like Harley (Bennell), Nieta (Aaron Nietschke) and KK (Kade Kolodjashnij), so I’m pretty happy. "

Tell us who! Damn It. Is he referring to May? Macdonald? Preuss? AVB?

This lack of information is really frustrating me!

A match  vs Essendoon on Friday..  and playing the Crows the very next day?

Something doesn't add up here.  Is the fixture on the club website wrong?

When the practice match was announced, I remember reading that it would feature players that didn't play the following day against Adelaide. Basically, its the reserves players that will play against Essendon. How many that will end up being, I have no idea.

  8. Didn't watch it last week; was a bit worried it would be too much of a fluff piece for my liking. Decided to give both episodes ago yesterday and was completely blown away by the content. My favourite parts aren't the interviews with Viney and Co, but rather the parts like AVB's rehab. Watching the toe stretches with the bands really shows how much work goes into getting the players fit again to play. Also loved the raw emotions of players during their training sessions where it looks like their giving everything and then going the extra mile. Burgess' comments during the sessions has also been amazing. Loved the bit about not hunching over and showing the opposition that you're exhausted. Never give an inch.
