WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Lord Nev replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
It all gets a bit too complicated for me tbh, but with a fair few academy type picks it also means we may have opportunity trade groups of our picks for higher ones with clubs requiring points though right? -

Or use it with a player trade for a higher pick... -
Apparently we can start expecting a bit more news in this area the next few days or so. The coaches are having the review findings presented to them along with the changes to staff and structure tomorrow. Haven't heard anything yet about who might come in, I would guess it's being kept very quiet out of respect for those that are being moved on.

Sounds good mate. Just curious, what's your intel on this 'new game plan'? Cheers. -
No, I think most would rather someone who is professional, dedicated and hard working. Stephenson is none of those things. "Elite traits"? Silly call for a player who is known to have nowhere near the required traits of a successful AFL player.
-
Not sure if it's happened yet, but they plan to apparently.
-
Would make sense. Rumours persist about both Hooker and Hurley.
-
Not sure if Richo will be involved with the list management though. I think everything is being redefined a fair bit. Mahoney could still have a big hand in trades etc IMO. I think it's going to be more about managing the coaches, communication, effectiveness of the footy department. I'm guessing though.
-
Yeah, the person who told me about it said they'd be pretty surprised if Mahoney didn't start looking around if the rumoured changes happen.
-
For who's first? GWS or Essendon?

Well, he is vegan. -
Don't know exact details, but heard Mahoney thought it was one of the worst interviews he's had, oh and Stephenson was late to the meeting as well.

He's had an interview with the club, fair to say it did not go well and he won't be a Demon anytime soon.

Possibly. His tweet was just before the stories started to break I think. -

I think he's been working a bit with FoxFooty, did their trade blog today as well, so must be at least not bad? -

Oh yeah, wasn't disagreeing or anything like that, more just saying that I've only heard bits and pieces so the details around it all might be different to what I've said.
-
Wait and see what the actual info is I guess. 'Reporting to' can be different to 'managed by' though. It could just be that Green is the conduit between Mahoney and the board? Nothing's official yet anyways.
-
Ah well, guess we start getting excited about Brodie Smith now hey? Has he ordered the polo yet?
-
Yeah it could go either way I reckon. You're right it could end up a bit of the 'boys club' again, but tbh I feel like we already had that in a way with Mahoney and Goody so I'm willing to take the gamble for now and see what happens.
-
From what I've heard with the role changes, Mahoney will answer to Richo and Green. Sounds like the review found maybe Mahoney had too much autonomy. I wouldn't be surprised to see him start to look for other opportunities at some stage now. Going to be an interesting dynamic now. I feel the Mahoney/Goodwin clique might be dissolved somewhat and with a future senior coach now joining us who played with a board member it definitely puts Goody in a different position.

Yeah I remember the Hoges outburst. Definitely something to it all, think the truth is probably somewhere in the middle though, not sure Hoges is the most reputable source, especially on twitter. I'm not sticking up for Morris, all I was saying is that he obviously has connections at MFC.
