  1. Was KK recruited to play on the wing?
  2. one_demon replied to one_demon's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
That's true to a certain extent, however today's players are so much more skillful and the grounds are so much better, Give them space and the will showcase their skills.

I never said we need more scoring
  4. one_demon replied to one_demon's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes we need to bring pressure and intensity for four quarters
  5. one_demon replied to one_demon's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
    Correct

I'm not sure about that. I don't think fans enjoy congestion that doesn't allow players to showcase their skills.

They're going to get their hands on the ball

I don't think we can beat St Kilda's fast, hard running

Well the game has been played for one hundred years with players spread throughout the ground. Curently the game is being played with thirty six players in one quarter of the ground. So which is the different sport?

I actually don't care about more scoring. I just want the players to have more space so they can showcase their skills more.

    You don't want less congestion?
  12. Loving Luke Hodge's commentary. Finaly someone to comment on the technical aspects of the game, like how teams setup their zone and stuff. I'm watching St Kilda v Hawthorn just to be educated by Hodge about the finer points of the game.

Yeah I guess I should of said 666 after a goal and three from each team in the fifty metre arcs at each stoppage.

I agree you could reduce interchanges, but the players are so fit these days. Also it doesn't force the coaches to change their tactics. They'll still want thirty six players in one quarter of the ground.

That's the beauty of starting positions. Those players will have to stay close to the arcs in order to make it back in time. The umpires won't be waiting for them. If they don't make it back there's no whistle. The team is docked a rotation for each breach.

    You're enjoying the congestion?

It can stay as 666 after a goal. Then there has to be three from each team in the fifty metre arcs at each stoppage.

The AFL came very close to implementing starting positions for this year but chickened out in the end which I found very disappointing. People really like 666. Wouldn't it be nice if we could have 666 during the game, not just after a goal.
  19. Have to beat St Kilda otherwise it's all over.
  20. May won't be right for St Kilda.
  21. Yeah I've been wanting Hunt to be tried on the wing to help our lack of midfield pace.
  22. I don't know about Garlett. He doesn't apply enough forward pressure.

At the end of the home and away season last year, Wayne Carey on Talking Footy showed the ladder and pointed out where Melbourne finished. He said if Gawn kicked the goal after the siren against Geelong, the extra win would of allowed Melbourne to finish second on the ladder. This is complete nonsense. If Gawn kicks the goal, the future from that point onwards will take a different path. Who knows, the win could of made the team over-confident and they lose the next few matches. There's just too many variables. It's a very simplistic way of looking at the things.

One of my pet hates with commentators is when a team kicks let's say kicks five behinds, which were easy or very gettable goals. A commentator will then say something like, "If they kicked those goals they would be five goals ahead". Absolute rubbish. If the first behind was a goal then the ball goes back to the centre and the future then takes a different path.
