IIRC... The MRO/Tribunal/Appeals Board mechanisms protect AFL from these cases being take to courts and potentially having a court grant injunctive relief for a period of time nullifying suspension (IE wait until season over until hearing appeal) I'm sure Lawyers on here can comment with more knowledge than I on this matter. So appeals board is effectively last chance saloon

Unfortunately, I think he may get off... Rioli comparison justifies attacking the ball and incidental contact, albeit heavy contact I feel it's one of those situations where a player knows they can attack the ball and have the added bonus of spearing an opponent, because that opponent has chosen to follow ball back into oncoming traffic I don't want Cripps to play, but would be arguing against a Demon suspension in same circumstances

Where do you boys think Petty is at? He's got a strong following on D'land, and any critique isn't popular, but I'm increasingly nervous watching him 1 on 1 and he was simply exposed when isolated from Lever's support on Friday...

He'll get 2 weeks, perhaps reduced to 1, then may get off on appeal But the more I look at the replay the more I think it is incidental contact. If Ah Chee isn't there, then Cripps grabs the ball on his chest in a chest mark motion. Had the ball been kicked, this would be a perfectly reasonable attack at the footy. Will all come down to whether his attack on the ball is seen as reasonable.
