34 Large Bintang - it's all pretty conclusive via Wifi on Nusa Lembongan - me and another random MFC member would put Hurn down for 2 and mm thicker 8 - coulda been teeth... definitely struck him

Wow. That's 34 x 620ml. About 21 litres of beer at 4.7% and you can still write?  Legend.....

  2. I think the concept is OK but it would need to be played on something larger than soccer pitch sized. A marked kick out from full back could see the player lining up for a shot on goal. Guys like Lynden Dunn would be worth their weight in gold.

  3. Gotta say one of my pet hates in the silly names given to other clubs. They make me cringe. I always refer to the opposition by their traditional names or sometimes shorten those names e.g. Dogs, Pies, Roos etc.

    Bulldogs Big Footy page:

"We where on top of them in the first 2 quarters just couldn't score with there 8 players in our forward line and we got flogged by the umps! Dropped our heads after watts slotted one 2 minutes into the third was all downhill from there"

    Rational...

I reckon that Bulldog fan is a former Collingwood Primary student. The literacy is about right.

Got my 2yo girls to mind this arvo. Let's see if they have the attention span to commit to four quarters of footy.

    Now there's an idea....

Run 'em ragged for a couple of hours before game time.  Park, playground, back yard whatever, just keep them moving and entertained. They will be out like like lights at first bounce. Worked like a charm for me when I had multiple babysitting duties albeit 35 years ago!

Had an interesting chat with a lions gun, feeling in playing group is that he'll leave.

Rates himself very highly and his ego tells him he needs / deserves to be at a big Melbourne club.  95% gone.

I live in Brisbane and mix with a lot of Lions/Gabba  members. Apparently has tickets on himself and cracked a huge sad after being despatched to the twos (again).

  7. I watch every game live and enjoy that purely from the position of a dyed-in-the-wool, fanatical demons supporter. I might even sometimes post a comment, (usually an emotional one) during a game.   Win, lose or draw, I then a day or so later watch a replay of the game with the sound turned off to try and gain some insights from an analytical perspective.  I will often pause and rewind the replay to study various things that catch my eye. So I tend to rely on my own judgement based on my experience as a long time football fan combined with many, many years of playing and coaching senior level club footy.  I enjoy reading the comments from posters here as we all have different perspectives that are often poles apart but always interesting.  I take little notice of media comment as those guys may watch several, if not all the of matches across a round so they tend to precis their views and generalise rather than analyse.

It is probably ridiculous but I often wonder whether clubs ever read websites such as Demonland to perhaps gain a slightly different viewpoint? Or do they just dismiss us as uninformed, emotional footy fans?  I am not saying that fan websites should be required reading for AFL clubs but among the passionate, angry and reactive commentary, there are some real pearls of wisdom that might just be useful.

  8. Voting is very subjective and people are always, looking to give their favourite a vote but I see Oliver didn't rate a single vote with some? Either I was watching the wrong game or know nothing about footy. The Brownlow votes will probably be 3. Jones, 2 Oliver, 1. Garlett but wouldn't be surprised to see Oliver get the 3.

  9. As I said in another thread, Jeffy is actually a shy guy which tends to make him a confidence player. When that self belief kicks in, he lifts to another level. Add that to a "dry track" like last nights and the result is 5 goals and opposition defenders heads rotating 360 degrees trying to watch him.  Just as mercurial as Betts and I think, quicker.

On the Bluey voting as mentioned above though, I tend to think Clarry has them all covered at this stage!

Each to their own. I like both.

No offence Dan but really? Oscar would be near to the worst player in the comp. Would not get a game in any other team. Tom...so much hype but his decision making and disposal is very, very ordinary.

  11. What's the point in being angry? Disappointed maybe but a game of footy is not worth my anger. Abusers of women and children, drug importers, poverty, weak politicians....those things make me angry, not the footy.

I see things a little differently than most here. Did we all really expect to be finals contenders this year or was that just wishful thinking? A brand new coach still finding his feet. A lot of guys playing their first season together. A horrific run with injuries. How many teams in the competition have an All Australian ruckman and Rising Star winning KPP even on their lists, let alone out injured?

Agreed that some of the umpiring decisions yesterday were ordinary but to suggest that an umpire is biased or cheating is blatantly wrong. We were beaten by a big, strong, mature defence, the inability to counter Goldstein's superiority and poor decision making. It didn't help that a few of our guys failed to have an impact (putting it nicely).  Tom Bugg can't be blamed though. He did all the hard work in actually getting the ball in his hands. Yeah, he missed goals but to do so, he won the footy first which is the main objective of the game.

i have always said 2018 will be the year. This is still, as our coach said, " a developing team". It is only natural that we will have highs and lows. It is all a learning curve. Still, it is clear that there is a significant improvement in our efforts in comparison to previous years and that makes me happy. However when this team finally gels it will be devastatingly good. It is only about 10 months away. Hold on to your hats.
