I reckon that doing the 'team thing' dominates Brayshaw's forward movement. Whilst he is a 'killer' in his own right (due to his abundant class as a footballer), I'd reckon that he now might feel '... I could have got that goal which would have been a better "team" result..." When Gus is moving with the ball towards the big sticks, he has a terrific kick that is quite reliable to score a goal. Now that we are into the interesting part of a finals campaign, it would be beneficial if he did line 'em up for a 6-pointer.

Down back, Bowey dispatches useful short kicks and handballs, and tackles rather well for a bloke his size and weight. In an overall sense, I reckon that Hunt gives us far more metres gained, at a twice the pace and is a bit of a loose cannon for all opposition teams to stop - quite often. The scales of justice tip both ways but with Hunt, tip deeper into the positive domain.

Comments on Gus were spot on! Classy outfit doing the things we need, gaining the ground and maintaining ball possession across the team.

TMac has been around a while - perhaps he is sorted by other clubs and their strategies. MBrown in is a change and can contribute with those coupla marks and coupla goals, most likely. He is also more mobile than TMac, at present.

Nahhh, Hunt may well come in - benching I'd reckon at the start - but I'd keep Smith as he is full of the one-per cent coverages that contribute to the lines of defence, at present. I'd still like to see Smith back into the forward line for some minutes - perhaps later in the game to come, whoever it may be against.

I just wish Tecketek were out of the scene. Always had problems with them, no matter what the attraction that we wished to attend. interestingly, with football, Ticketek are very pricey. Ticket-vending is not a difficult task to perform - but so often with this company the pendulum of good fortune jambs and they become unco-operative and twice removed from what you might want to purchase, in one way or another. I would love to see ticketing/game entry back in the hands of the Club, whose services were quick, desirable, value for members, assured and on-time. The only tickets worth buying here in Adelaide for the Dees' game against Fitz-Briz start at $96 (each) with no mention of MFC membership claims - no an ability to cite your MFC membership details. It became such a brick wall dealing with $Techa-Tic-Toc that we both gave up trying and have resigned to watch the TV telecast instead - at least $192 will go to a good cause at the bottle shop because it will be a champagne event no matter which side of the sore cheek you sit upon. Carna Dees!

He could do that, quite well. At present, he reminds me so much of Frank Davis (former captain/back pocket/HBFlanker) that it is difficult to see his backline characteristics used elsewhere onfield; this does not mean that one would expect him not to aggregate further skills and aptitudes across the ground. I bet, for example, he'd be a neat and reliable shot for goal, a damaging half forward flanker, a knockout midfielder - all likely in his footballing future. Great pick-up for us.

Stopping intercept marks is a great point of interest and capacity that BBB brings to our team. Crumbers, be ready as hell to pick the scoring cherries that amass each recent game - we seem to have got onto three opportunities against Geelong but there were more for the taking if we were truly 'heads-up' in the forward entries. BBB will be running towards the incoming ball, most times so for the crumbers, it is less difficult to snatch a few ... in pack-mark situations, either side of the big Fella, giving him room to juggle a few times or tap on, if not fully a one-grab moment.

That is Goodwin. He played the Weed too often, too expensively. Smith has better skills than the Weed and somewhere in the 22 that might be selected, there should be a spot for the talents of Joel Smith. Settled and existing talents, at that; but these are only ideas, not dictates, so attempt to get over it, will you?

Brizzy are a mobile team, with lots of runners and outside drive. We will need an athlete to counter, intercept and run on in possession for delivery upfield. Put Smith in the forward line and we are all set.

In the 2nd qtr, the umpires were letting 10m kicks (at best) be recognised as marks - particularly in Geelong's forward line. That was deliberate, outright cheating.

That kid made a great contribution across the game - tough, willing, capable, with vision and intent. Put up with the dirty stuff from Geelong and carried on like matured footballer. Well done, Sparrow.

Max was held, opponent's arm around his back pulling him downwards and one arm fully incapacitated, for three quarters at ruck contests and marking huddles with no interference from the umpires. In the last quarter, Max went to his own space and [censored] killed their ruck combo from an unhindered approach.

Port will cream the Cats in Adelaide - one rodent in the system eliminated. The umpires gave the Cats every chance - embarrassingly so - and stopped the Demon momentum as best they could for nearly two full quarters. Class won through.

I wish we could go back to the 50s-60s, to see what this Club really was and how that last quarter, last night, was the epitome of such a footballing era. In the weeks ahead of us, getting to - and winning - a GF would be enormous; to finish on top of a minor premiership list as we did with so much heart is, for me, very rewarding and more important that the short-term road ahead. We beat the umpires for the first time - gave nothing away in that last quarter, giving the umpires no chance to interfere with the flow of football - we all know that the Cats were secondary to the result of the game. Then, the Demon guardian angel struck so our opportunitites were not interrupted by the maggots with whistles. Boy, did the boys perform.

Nah, May on Hawkins (wearing a helmet), Petty on Cameron, Smith on Rohan. Maybe (in addition), Bowser to tag Selwood's forward entries and Lever to intercept all forward action by Dangerfield.

Swing Smith forward in the second half. Allow him to backline intercept and spoil in the first, making the Cats' weary legs tire. Give opportunities for Smith to find space and hit targets upfield.

Interesting point, in the light of previous match-ups between Hawkins, the blessed one and May, the toiler. Surely, Hawkins just has to start this match 'on warning', meaning that he virtually should not be permitted to assault other players due to his ability to avoid suspension or reviews of his onfield conduct with other players. May should come out with a head helmet - to signal his resistance to what has happened before from 'The Thug'. Carna Dees... we can take this one, and silence / negate the advantages of rule interpretations that the Cats enjoy.
