  1. If the offers were selectively made, it would make little sense or could be discriminatory in some way. I'd reckon that it may well have been a sampling to see if members would 'go for it' in any big way. In the medium-term, I would think this ticketing offer could be a great income-generator for the Club and could provide members of the Club addition satisfaction for their money and loyalties. Imagine 10 000 + Members at the 'G for a game in one deluxe area of the ground! This could occur every home game - all facilitated electronically on the Net - buy tickets cheaply, deliver print-out tickets for Members cheaply, get increased crowds at games - think of the potential for revenues to all aspects of the spectacle of football. Imagine how the Collingwood supporters would feel attending a match against the Mighty Demons at the 'G - and those from Carlscum, Essendrug and Whorethorn.
  2. Hey, Clint. Checking these out is fun. Lotsa good picks, but this is the one I liked the best, so put me down for this one, please. Rather than re-type it, I copied and pasted it from Grey Wolf. 1. Melbourne 2. GWS 3. Sydney 4. Richmond 5. Adelaide 6. Geelong 7. Hawthorn 8. Collingwood 9. Western Bulldogs 10. Essendon 11. Port Adelaide 12. Carlton 13. St Kilda 14. Fremantle 15. Gold Coast 16 North Melbourne 17. Eagles 18. Brisbane
  3. Yep, sure hope I can help you. I received the offer on e-mail (I am an interstate Armchair Member of MFC, from Adelaide). From there, I immediately called (and got through relatively quickly) the MFC Membership area on the following number: 1300 336667 to enquire about the e-mail offer to Members - and the possibility of taking along 2 guests (non-members). They said: 'No worries...' and facilitated it all on the spot. I paid via Debit Card over the phone. Within minutes, via MFC through Ticketek, the goodies, complete, had arrived. I pick up the guest passes to the Members' seating area ($18 each x 2) from just outside Gate 3 at the 'G from 1pm Sunday - but please note, the guests have to pay a General Entry fee of $20 approximately to get in as General Entry - and then accompany the 2 of us, Members, to the allocated seating - with entry via Gate 5, just a few hundred metres north around the Ground from Gate 3. Hope this all helps. 'Carna Dees!
  4. On a brighter note, as members, we just took advantage of the MFC members reserved seats for Sunday's game against Geelong at the MCG. It was astonishingly good value from the Club, in comparison to the offering that existed previously from the money-hungry Ticketek, who required, for just ordinary seats, $75 per seat for members of the MFC. The lowest-priced seats for MFC Members offered by Ticketek were in the order of $60 per seat, in the bleaches of the Northern Stand or behind the Richmond-end goals bleachers. Neither were acceptable. Suddenly, the MFC offered yesterday, Monday, 2 Members tickets for $20 @ $10 each. In addition, we were also able to collect from the MFC two Guest tickets beside our seats for $18 each. We took immediate action and purchased the package for four people in the reserved seat area for less than one reserved seat in the above Ticketek bleachers. This is the way MFC Members should be treated - more often. In reality, it is $10 per seat and next to / near the facilities, with good viewings of the ground just on the wing at Level 1. What's is equally advantageous is that these tickets were issued electronically the same day, arriving in e-mail within minutes. I'd encourage any Member to take advantage of this great offering to indicate to the Club that this is what Members might wish. It may even expand as time goes by - at least one could hope.
  5. Really would expect a few hundred (or more) new memberships in the next few weeks and into the season from there. Success is a great accumulator in football and being on the bandwagon is very associative with that success.
  6. With injuries across the side, right up to today, it seems that the MFC are playing the super-sleuth game via Mission to keep the Cats guessing - in response to Geelong's mysterious Ablett/Dangerfield conundrum. Suddently this morning more 'niggles' appear in the Dees' players; suddenly the injury list is reduced to Viney, VDB, Smith and Lewis. Suddenly Clarrie has a niggle and ANB is not quite right to train normally. Think an aspirin and a good week's rest is in order.
  7. For other clubs under such an administration as the AFL, the FOI must be successful in order for those clubs to avoid the damage done in the past with full, heads-up strategies and that includes existing feedback. Commonsense must prevail. Anything else is negligence.
  8. It was encouraging; Vanders was particularly good news in terms of recovery - we could use a little of his aggression and ooomph!
  9. Physically more possible, too. Haha
  10. Like all things MFC, stuff will happen and get better. This IS 2018 and I'd reckon that Burgan is just brushing up on his superlatives prior to our best season since '64, for journalistic accuracy.
  11. Saty does a terrific job and his comments are first rate.
  12. Thanks for the update. You are correct with these 'memories'. Parke, Bourke and Dillon. Yep, Barry Bourke the decoy was just before Parke and Dillon. He did hurt it and not long after, I think it was Townsend who had to limp off.
  13. Sure, I have a sore knee.
  14. Dillon went on to resume his SA footy career as it was at a lower level than the Vics at that time. Ross Dillon, now he was a champion at CHF. I thought that the Ox in his pre-injury days was his reincarnation, and yet, Dillon had just that little bit more with timing, skills, mobility and goal power. Both were actually entirely different players. Royce Hart got the accolades every week but Dillon was better and more reliable. Hey 'Chook', how did you know about Laurie Fowler's knickname? It was older than his football career - stemmed from the good old Chadstone High School.
  15. Poorly worded, sorry. I meant no-one from my circle of friends from that era.
  16. He was a freak with marking, Greg Parke. He took more marks than anyone and most of these were heavily contested. Lousy kick but a good handball feeder at the same time, just as long as a kick. I can remember him - a policeman - directing traffic every morning and often in the evening at the centre of the road at Camberwell Junction prior to traffic lights being installed at that 6-way intersection. We'd lean out of a tram and attempt to knock his hat off his head as the tram rattled passed. He, in return, smiled broadly and shook his finger at us allegedly disapprovingly. It was fun.
  17. Don't get me going - Tassie, Hassa, Townsend, Parke, Dillon, Hardeman, Alves, and all the others. Geez it was fun.
  18. They nick-named me 'Cass' based upon part of my surname, and every party I went to in my uni days it was always: 'Jumpin Jack Flash it's a Cass!' Never lived it down. Thank heavens no-one who can remember the 1960s lives nearby...
  19. Laurie Fowler, tremendous footballer for Melb after his stint with the Tigers. Best friend of John Nichols, I heard. And Tassie Johnston. Those great drop kicks from the Richmond goalsquare past the centre of the MCG. He just knew where the ball was going. Few ever got in his way. Two greats. Hardeman, not a tall, killing all opposition forwards, the greatest.
  20. Lovely name. Why not keep it?
  21. What is the condition of T Smith? Is he ready or capable at this stage of playing in the firsts?
  22. Great players.
