  1. Good intent but I actually thought the title of this thread was somewhat sarcastic. I'm still grieving and not interested in thanking anyone despite some good performance which you have outlined
  2. Feel like the supporters and members are owed an apology of some sort from the club's leaders. Players, coach and lets not forget our 'high' performance sport science team. Won't make me feel better but seems like we are owed something. I will likely renew my membership before Xmas again for the 26th year in a row but it won't an automatic decision and not with the same enjoyment and optimism. Is it just me?
  3. People that are suggesting that most of the players are hurting to a significant degree are dreaming. Given they fear expectation its a relief to have missed for them. It can only hurt players (to the point that it drives them) if they gave their all and just fell short. Not the case. They essentially froze when it counted. We should naturally improve as you would expect of a young and talented list but any talk that this was a learning year which will drive us is bulldust. Just an absolutely shitful below expectation end to the year with no learnings just more scares for players
  4. No doubt the coaching staff have had a poor end to the season along with players. You can include our sports science team in that also
  5. They are just not at the point where their focus and desperation to make their mark on the big stage overshadows the fear of expectation to the point where you don't even stop to consider the alternatives. Hugely disappointing just the same.
  6. Just cracked open my 1st can of jim beam. Hoping when l wake up it will all have been just a bad dream
  7. Trying to think of something to write but in the end l really just need a man hug
  8. Will probably help run the family business in NZ post his AFL career. Can be quite lucrative l hear
  9. It was the last round of the year and a must win game to make the finals at Whitten Oval for the 1st time in many years. Its my favourite MFC memory. Robbie finally getting the chance to play finals. For the 1st and only time l went onto the oval and followed a number of supporters up the race expecting to get knocked back leading into the rooms. The supporters that got in early enough were able mingle and chat with the players. Massive buzz insude. Robbie signed my footy record that day. Its probably worth nothing but its priceless to me
  10. Resting players would be too clever by half. I think people are reading into this a little too much. Both players are listed as injured. The impact on those players (if just rested) would be that they won't have played a game for 20 odd days by the time the line up in their 1st final. Not going to happen me thinks Out: D.Hannebery (hip), T.Papley (knee)
  11. Hold your fire. It will be worth more as a premiership captain in a few weeks time
  12. Should be a great Shame its unlikely to be in Melbourne - would love to have gone and seen our supporters come out of the woodwork. Who would we play the following week ... I think it would be the loser of Geel vs Rich a the G? We had both teams on toast earlier in the yr. As an aside, its been so long since we made finals I couldn't recall the ticketing arrangements until the club sent me a timely email.
  13. Don't want to lose Sam Frost either
  14. Deecisive, I'm pretty sure we don't hold any new IP here. Clubs aren't eagerly awaiting our next post to make their next trade move
  15. Given he hadn't played much until this season (mostly injured) he probably backed himself to play again before commencing contract talks and his manage would be out there testing the market with the likes of the Bulldogs & Carlton with limited competition for spots. Was good for a patch early on but has leaked plenty of goals against opp bigs and lost his dash in recent games.
  16. Hope so. That would mean we are elite in another position on the ground
  17. What l find both ironic and pleasing is that melbourne until the last 12 months or so were critised by the the likes of Wallace and Barrett on trade radio each year whilst Derek Hine, Bucks and the CFC were lauded. Think Jesse White, Clinton Young, Russell Jordan, Quinton Lynch, Patrick Karnezis, Daniel Wells, Aish, Sharenberg, Freeman. Just shows that opinions are like ar-seholes everybodies got one and not all experts are equal
  18. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/jake-spencer-set-to-test-free-agency-as-he-chases-more-opportunities-outside-melbourne/news-story/8d58bcbd8489895520b45da1c9add900 Jake is a work horse and team first type of player but his body has repeatedly failed him throughout his career. With Pedo signing on again for next season and succeeding as a back up ruckman l'm happy for the MFC to move on. Best of luck Jake
  19. Poor Jimmy was part of lose-lose-lose trade involving 3 clubs
  20. Robbie Flower. No one said it had to be a current day player. If only he (l think it was Tony Campbell) had handballed to Robbie while running towards goal in the last quarter of the 1987 prelim against the Hawks ...
  21. Won't happen. Pretty much impossible for the 'for and against' scores to be identical for any of thr teams battling for a finals berth (Melb, Esse, West C.) given their spread at the moment. Will just keep going to more decimal points until one team leads
  22. Predicting Hogan to rag doll a couple of their undersized defenders and have a good day
