  1. It was overplayed because of the whole Collingwood first game he had and coming full circle or something. Just another meme for the year.
  2. Luckily for Carlton, they'll never have to experience another 5 goal second half qualifying final from a first year player again On the contrary, I think it's about time people saw the Watts trade in a wider context. The cringey persistent lamentations over the Watts trade (on another forum) have been met with a stern response from me about look at what we got in return and giving Fritsch a chance over the next few years, to actually judge the second round pick trade. Which i don't think was a mere coincidence personally. Having said that, none of the burden of having to live up to another players potential, should ever be placed on his shoulders. He only has the burden of living up to pick 31.
  3. Add Hunt and Hibberd in to the mix at times too. Very nervous opposition. The Lever inclusion looks more and more like a masterstroke now with flow on effects all over the field. We're only one non-game in though heh

Why not both? If we're into Ollie Wines, then i'd think he would be viewed as an upgrade on Tyson, Brayshaw, Salem or ANB. And that's who we'd trade for him with a draft picks. If we were good enough to make the finals this year, but limited in what we could serve up and subsequently departed in week 1 or week 2, then we'd be looking to upgrade on the firepower at our disposal imo. Have to be ruthless with who we'd need to give them. As for outside run, i don't see many that are worth too much, and we'd only need to arrange the cap space and lose something not really that valuable in terms of draft pick/trade or get them through free agency. I think this year may reveal a few list suprises that could cover for this supposed dire need for outside run too. Edit: The club used the sample principle in acquiring Harrison Petty, pick quality if its available. Work out how to shuffle around the rest of the list after.
  5. I'm waiting for proof. Do we know if old McDonald has bought a farm in the Geelong region?
  6. Whether we're past going for a big fish depends on how well we do this year. Tyson, Brayshaw, Salem etc. Plenty of players could be on the chopping block to make cap space for our homegrown & a big fish if available, if we are still around the 7-10 mark and have a weak final (if we make finals) - Optimistic we'll exceed 7th and will not need to chase Sloane. Luke Dalhouse is a free agent this year, perhaps we'll be more in need of the cream on top of the cake type player.
  7. How do we combat zone footy? Have Hogan/TMAC/Gawn this year making more of an impact with the pack/leading mark on the wing?
  8. Bankruptcy? Not the end of the world.

  10. Hopefully this means i never have to hear his disjointed rambling "special" comments ever again.
  11. I don't know what all the petty arguing is about. He looks good. Dynamic and proactive!
  12. Maybe the shoe will be on the other foot: "Gee, Port Adelaide really missed out by trading out pick 31" every time Fritsch takes a mark or kicks a goal? Anyway, next year is not the year to decide one way or the other.
  13. Rename this thread to "Will Bayley Fritsch make Port pay?"
  14. We all collectively decided that he has a kick on him like John Butcher and our voices were heard
  15. Every time Fritsch takes a hanger for us, i will be reminded of what JW made us pay.
  16. More of a Sydney issue that one.
  17. So we are in the box seat to pick him up when he wants to home? http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/brisbane-lions-weigh-up-draft-bolter-with-top-pick-over-favourite-cameron-rayner/news-story/bb9562d5c91ee1b6bd410fb9de604fb7
  18. Isn't it equality at work though? A 21 year old leaves for more money if a lower club has less talent and can make a bigger offer. They can only do this because they don't have a current premiership window open and aren't stacked with elite players. You have to balance who you keep for success now vs success in future. Adelaide were squeezed because they're on top of the ladder. And we'll be squeezed either by being on top and not being able to match offers or stagnating and not making the finals and players leaving to find success on lower pay.
  19. Not that i'm debating with you, i'm not fussed one way or the other, but i'm pointing out that a starting offer shouldn't be about right, but unders. But i misread 'stated' for 'started' so don't mind me.
  20. Defeats the purpose of making a starting offer if thats where you eventually want to compromise to. Next time offer 10 and a 3rd round eh?
  21. He does look like he jumps in the air to kick the ball in a toe pokey kind of way but in the middle of the boot (Middle poke?) - Reminds me of Tyson, with the chip kicks. But that jumping kick style looks as though its propelling his body forward for the one two which Tyson doesnt really have the burst for. Excited to see that he looks like he does have some natural acceleration and athletic power.

  23. Re Gibbs: Easy to take a paycut when youve been earning 500-600k for 5 years and 400 or so the 5 years earlier and have probably made smart financial investments. A career ending injury wont put a dent in his bank account. And Tex taking a paycut? Easy to do when you've got a career lined up post-footy due to captaincy and ironically getting a payed radio spot (Outside the cap) to spout this nonsense. Tex is a fool if he thinks that their underpayment policy was going to work for a kid that gets rival offers that value his ability and get him to come home. Easier to point the blame at others, rather than your own salary cap manipulating tactic coming back to bite you in the ass.
  24. It doesn't put them on an equal pedestal at all, Rance is a "4 time AA FB" and we lost an AA FB. The Frawley topic only came about due to a discussion over Motlops compensation. 3 years pertains to the time we've spent without a full back (Or elite defender) that fits into our planning going forward (ie not Dunn) and only now have we addressed a deficiency that our list management have said was our key priority. Has nothing to do with not getting over losing Frawley, just a realisation that his leaving did actually set us back which doesn't seem to be discussed around these days.
