That's the one big positive out of this game for me. We weren't in this game by some sort of fluke, or that they kicked 7.17 - we were in it because we deserved to be for large parts of the contest. No doubt they dominated the second term, but we stuck in there thanks to our back line and then we were able to turn the tide in the second half. If not for some basic errors in front of goal we could have won it, and we would have deserved to win it too.

If you're talking about the 'fence' variety, then yes, he needs a rest.
-
Did he look up and see them covering the middle, and therefore went wider to at least give us a chance? It's a hindsight thing. If he kicks the ball to around 20m out, we can pluck a mark, rove the pack etc... or they can mop it up and start the run going the other way. We'll never know. What we do is that he saw the option of Fritsch on the lead in the pocket. Unless we see a camera angle we don't know what else was happening inside 50 so I think it's slightly harsh to criticise him for it.

Jones gets another week. I still think the game is passing him by but he did okay. I think Jetta needs a spell. Give Rivers another crack. I'd also not be against Gus getting dropped for Tomlinson. Also, I hope they stick with Jackson and Weideman. Outside of the dodgy kicking for goal from Weid, both are doing a good job right now. They deserve to keep their spots.

Fritsch marked the ball and, had it not been centimetres out, would have had a shot at goal. On the other hand, if he bombs it to the 25 out to contest, they may have the numbers and run the ball out. Or we mark it and goal. Who knows. But to suggest that decision somehow cost us the game is laughable. Plenty of other errors cost us tonight. This really wasn't one of them.

Spot on, titan. Couldn't believe it really. If it's a point then they just add on the score as we would have kicked it out straight away. That decision hurt us as we were away down the wing.

Have a look at his posting tonight - the ol' coq is having a troll I think.
-
He stuffed around with it to make sure we could get set up behind the ball, but yes, he went a step too far and it hurt us in that situation.
-
I've actually got him on ignore as he's one of the worst contributors on here, but knew exactly what he was going to post and couldn't help myself.

28 touches, 10 tackles, 15 contested possies and 5 clearances. Might have missed a target or two in the conditions, but he worked his backside off for us all night.

Well Fritta marked it, even if it was centimetres out, so it wasn't the worst choice.
-
Not totally his fault, dazzle. Just went a moment too long as up till that point he held him up well. I'm more disappointed in some of the easy shots we missed. As titan pointed out above, we could have won by 2-3 goals.

Rubbish. Was part of a defence that kept us in the game for large parts of the night. Hipwood and McStay had no influence on the game and he spent time on both. Pathetic post.

I'm shattered. I'm worn out too, but shattered more than anything. I felt like we deserved to win that game. Apart from the second term where Brisbane played some scintillating footy, I thought we were the better side for most of the night. I thought after half time our midfielders lifted superbly and our back line was absolutely fantastic. They kept us in the game when we really needed it. Viney was immense. His ability to get out of traffic but weaving and fending off tacklers is sensational. Oliver had another ripper game while Trac was fantastic yet again. They are making a real difference for us. Again, our back line was excellent. They are setting up really well down there. Cameron kicked a couple but outside of that he barely got a sniff, while Hipwood and McStay had little influence on the game. Want to give a shout out to two players: Melksham first. Kicked three and is showing why we have persevered with him up to this point. In these conditions he can be a classy player and it showed. The second is for Jackson. Tom Mac is going to find it hard to get back into the side with the kid playing the way he is. Love his athleticism and you can see his confidence lifting. And the umps can suck a big, fat one. They sucked all night. Onwards and upwards. Go Dees.

[censored] DEMONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stiff decision though. They have let those go all night.

I love Jack Viney. I'm also falling in love with Luke Jackson pretty quickly.

It's frustrating to watch, but I just feel as though we're being rolled by a better side. We've had chances that, over the last two weeks, we've taken. Weid will learn from this and I bet Bennell never misses one like that again, while Kozzie will also learn from not giving that handball to Langdon in the square. I'm not disappointed in the endeavour, though. If we can kick the first then I give us a small sniff.
-
Dangerous tackle? Laughable.
-
Oh Harley! We have lifted though.
-
Boy did we need that. Good finish from Melk.
-
So it was holding the ball on Trac, but how did Andrews dispose of it in the first place?
-
You could say the same for Jones. Both have lost a yard or two of pace and they need to step aside now.
-
No doubt we're struggling, and that's down to how good the Lions are playing. We just can't get any clean ball or any time to use it. Full credit to them.
-
Couldn't agree more, Clint. Lions were sensational that term, but that wasn't down to us dropping our intensity or doing anything glaringly wrong. They're just playing terrific footy at the minute. The positive is that we're well and truly still in the game.
