It doesn't change a thing. If you aren't supporting a club with a priority to win, then why else are you supporting them?
-
I hope Roos goes up to Simpson after the game, shakes his hand and says: "Bad luck.... ya [censored]!"
-
They look decent in half a season of footy. We've taken it up to quality opposition, just like they have. Let's see if their gameplan and list stand the test of time. Roos has always said that he was building from the ground up for sustained success, not a quick fix that might shoot us up the ladder a little but flounder under pressure on in the finals. Agreed. There are the usual's who see everything in a negative light and won't budge from that no matter what you say. There are both clear positives and negatives for the club at the moment, and I pity those that can't see both.
-
If we're going on my belief that we can win, then it won't be Daryl Kerrigan on the phone for me. It'll be Dennis Denuto.
-
I think we can win today - I don't think the Eagles are THAT strong and I think, in most areas, we can match them if we turn up to play. However, their run and spread is very good and if we can't get on top of that early then we are in serious trouble.
-
The main goal of a football club is to win. Then it is to win some more. And then it is to win even more. You're kidding yourself if you think otherwise, and if any player on our list didn't have the above as his first, second and third priority then he should go and do something else.
-
So one exception to the rule means it will be the same for everyone? I see AF liked your post as well. I expect that he is sacrificing anything to every god that existed that Prestia is magically given a new knee and he comes to us for a 4th round pick.

Who are the Dees chasing for 2017 and at what cost?

So braysure is getting his 'inner sanctum' info from Facebook? Seems about right. -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 18
Wiseblood replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Surely you're not that naive, OD? Goodwin and Roos would be working and deciding on these issues together. Goodwin inherits the list next year, so I'm certain he gets a say in who plays and who he wants on the list from 2017. Roos would most certainly have an opinion and, really, Goodwin would be silly not to at least seek his counsel on many of the big decisions. To suggest Roos suddenly has 'no opinion' is a little silly. -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 18

Cop out? Roos isn't going to be there next year. It make sense for Goodwin to make the decision as he'll be the one who has to live with it. -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 18

It looks pretty grim for him. Ripper first game, poor second one and he is straight out. Pretty good changes all round really. Dawes doesn't excited me, but, I think we lacked that extra tall last week going forward. It might help, but then again Dawes may once again do sweet FA and he just leaves us all shaking our heads. Stretch and Neal-Bullen should provide good run for us on the larger ground this week, while Frost back in will be handy for our backline. -
'AdamFphelebed - there's you're next username AF. It's getting longer.

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
Wiseblood replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
I still think he'll sign again with the club, but it will be on a shorter term deal, like 2-3 years. He'll get paid well, can focus on his footy and then re-assess and see if we are beginning to look like a serious premiership contender. If not, well... Having said all that, a factor he mentioned is where a club is headed. Freo don't exactly look all that flash right now, especially with Fyfe's future up in the air, so that can only be a positive for us. -
The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
Wiseblood replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
He is. He seems to be the king of the 'we lost on the weekend so the world is caving in' outlook this week. -
Just to go slightly off topic, we had some serious talent in those years. If we had a little extra luck we could have snagged a flag somewhere in there. When you look at those who went down with injuries you can see why we missed out. Such a shame.
-
Don't you know? You could argue bad luck was involved. In 1987 we were a huge chance, and we all know why we didn't make it to the big dance that year. We seriously could have knocked Carlton off that year. We deserved to go to the Grand Final. In 1998 we got a rubbish draw, one that should NEVER have happened - having beaten Adelaide and St. Kilda we were forced to face North instead of playing the Swans, which Adelaide were able to do. Had it been a North vs. Dees GF, could we have won? Probably not, but who knows. In 2000 we faced the juggernaut that was Essendon. We did very well to get to the GF but didn't have the experience to roll them and, as much as we despise them, they deserved the flag that year. You could even argue that, in '94, we were close if not for a few injuries and having to play the Eagles in Perth in the Prelim. A fully fit Allen Jakovich running rampant up forward could have swung things our way, but again, we'll never know. You can throw severe injuries in to the mix with this one as well, especially during the mid to late 90's. Plenty of talent cut down in their prime and, when they returned, they were never the same players. Many of what I've mentioned above is vastly different to what the club is now. The above teams had talent to burn and they got the absolute best out of their abilities. Are we getting that now? I'd say no. It's all there but it's yet to either come out or come together as a unit. Those teams above WERE good enough in my opinion, but it takes more than good side to get to there. Our current side isn't even close to that yet. Edit - as an aside, our development was very good back in those days. Plenty of the players who came through to play in the senior side started off in the U19's.
-
Not at all OD, no better time to be up and about. In all seriousness, we've all had a good vent about the weekend (which everyone is entitled to). But after a loss we end up droning on and on and on about it until there is nothing left to say... and then we invent other things to say to make up for it. Let's look ahead to the Eagles game and the possibility of a win. It's a small, minute possibility, but this year we have always been in the game. What happens if we can get on top in the midfield and cut their supply forward? What if a few things go our way and we put on some scoreboard pressure? There is every chance we get smashed, but I still believe that THIS year, we are in every game we play in. I dunno. Looking at the negatives for days does nothing for me. I have to find the positives in there somewhere.
-
Of course. We're all still splitting hairs about Sunday and it's now been 3 days since that game. Time to move on. Dees by 17 goals now. I'm feeling it...
-
Dees by 10 goals this week. Actually, make that 15. Yeah, 15 goals.
-
If White finishes the season strongly then, yes, I could see him being promoted. He's only played 3 senior games so far though and last weekend he went missing. Hasn't done enough to earn promotion yet. List is pretty spot on Stuie. I'll echo those who feel Michie has been a disappointment. We didn't give up much to get him but I really thought he could become a handy player for us. Never got close to it really.
-
When we've already traded one away, it could hurt to trade away another. You must be getting nervous though. Persistent knee issues could scare us away.
-
So would I.... if he didn't have these constant knee issues. If he had of been able to play out the season and show further proof that he's shaken off those knee problems then I'd be feeling far more positive about him. Now? Not so much.
-
And probably why we won't get him in the end. With his constant knee issues he'll probably look for the longest and most financially secure contract that is on the table. I'm not sold that it will be us that will provide it.
-
These constant knee issues don't exactly fill me with confidence. Do we sell the farm for a bloke who will struggle to get on the park? Not sure we can take that sort of risk right now.
-
Get the picture? Wouldn't have thought so. As I said, you're talking out of your back pocket. We've had some fade outs over the last few weeks, but you give zero credit at all to our side, which is wrong.
