Chris Connolly MC'd, so no surprises there. Stynes was introduced to rapturuous applause from the smallish crowd. Spoke about Debt Demolition then showed a 5 minute highlight package from the main fundraising night (as an interesting aside, did people see the Foundation Heroes list of people that donated 10K put up on the scoreboard before the game? Garry Lyons name was amongst them, I'm surprised this hasnt been made a bigger deal of). The vote on the guernseys we were informed by Stynes was at 50-50, and he did a 'cheer of support' type vote to help him decide, the demon variant was met with much greater praise than the monogrammed alternative, and he advised he'd take these findings to the board. Jimmy then introduced Cameron Schwab who talked about his origins at the club and how as soon as he was asked for the very first time if he'd like the role, he said yes straight away. Next up was Dean Bailey introduced by what seemed like a 7 or 8 minute montage of our young players highlights from this year. Bailey went on about how exciting the future is for all of them. He then asked up Jack Grimes, who was quite shy and admitted he had trouble sleeping the last 3 nights such was his nervousness. Then it was Aussie Wonnaemiri called up, he was extremely shy to the point you could barely hear his 3 word answers, Connolls basically had to keep pushing the microphone Aussie was holding up closer to his mouth. He mentioned that Josh Mahoney had encouraged him to enjoy and celebrate his goals, and thus that's where his 'frog jump' celebration came from. Next on stage was Brad Miller who spoke well, and mentioned how he appreciated the chance to play forward all year. Miller was finally asked to tell the crowd one thing we didnt know about Jeff White, and he quipped it was that he had an ear reduction surgery early in his career so large are his ears. White was then introduced to a total standing ovation, and highlights of his career were shown onscreen. He spoke well, and told the crowd he'd always be red and blue, and even if he's picked up next year he'd still be watching closely our progress. Next up Ben Holland was up next and thanked the club for giving him the chance to farewell league football with todays game, and how much he'd enjoyed his time at the club. The final of the retirees, also was met with a warm welcome as some of his wonderful highlights were shown on the screen. He's never the greatest of public speakers, so Oooze's speak was also relatively brief. I think that was about all that happened, I left when the players were all asked up onstage, only to have to put up watching two breakdancing instructors attempt to get a bunch of kids to dance in front of them, as frostbite had well and truly set in by that stage. Why hold a club function outdoors in winter? Bring on '09!

Well its happened now. After Spurs dismal home display against Getafe Martin Jol and assistant Chris Hughton were shown the door. Bizarrely, it seems word got around at half time of the game that Jol had been sacked, so the crowd sang chants to thank Jol during the second half, he even afforded them a goodbye wave.

Absolutely dreadful game defensively, at this rate we'd be lucky to escape the relegation zone let alone worry about finishing 5th again..

I say drop Robbo for a game or two, give Cerny a run. The two central defenders are starting to look better, Dawson is slowly returning to his best as his fitness increases, and Kaboul at 21 is getting better by the game. Stop playing Tainio, get Lennon on and starting more on the right side, give Bale free reign to do whatever he likes on the left (the kid looks like a real quality player in the making), keep Berbatov and Defoe starting to further develop their blossoming understanding, and we'll win more games than we lose from here on in. Oh to have Ledley King fit again too...

Why oh why are Spurs continually shooting themselves in the foot when in likely match-winning situations? That 3-3 result was a disaster, you could've heard a pin drop amongst all the supporters in the pub when the equaliser went in. The big plus though is Gareth Bale, this kid can seriously play! Oh, and Chelsea conceding two against of all teams Villa has to be the season highlight so far!

Come on you Spurs! A great win the other night to calm our anxietys about the poor start to the year. We still have so so many injuries, but hopefully can steady from here. Are all you Spurs fans on here members of Ozspurs, the Australian Spurs Supporters group? www.ozspurs.com I think Man Utd have a better team than Chelsea, emphasis on the word team, as Chelsea may have better players they're all just money-chasing individuals happy to take the dodgy oil-barons money till it runs out..then they'll all jump ship (Arjen Robben this morning looks like he's on his way to Real Madrid).. Having said that United have made it hard for themselves if they wanna win this years title.
