There's our best 10 players. Harmes comfortably in the 11-18 range but if we essentially swap him for Grundy and bank the Jackson picks, that has to be a win

I do get a bit confused about the obsession with height for KPFs. Georgiades is listed at 192 which is the same as Curnow (who is 3cm shorter than Cripps).

Borderline case - only relevant because it affects us. Happy for Cripps to play as it wasn't a shocker though would have been ambivalent the other way.
I reckon there is every chance we smash Carlton

Some of the finest lyrics ever penned by an Australian…
‘Absolutely everybody
In the whole wide world
Everybody breathes
And everybody needs’You can just picture her tirelessly working in the studio thinking ‘what rhymes with breathes, oh yeah… needs’.
Has nothing on these (albeit not by an Australian):
"I don't want to see a ghost
It's a sight that I fear most
I'd rather have a piece of toast…"

This is some quarter by Port. Great footy.
Be interesting to see how De Konig comes back from this because he's getting an absolute bath

I think it's an occasional issue with decision making not selfishness, Just exacerbated by it being in the forward 50.
Ultimately, he's 11th in the Coleman on the same goals as Harry McKay and 10 clear of our next best goalkicker, and 3rd for score involvements after Oliver and Petracca. Absolutely should be a guaranteed starter every week.

Bad kicking = bad footy
Don't deserve to win a game kicking 11.22
Good for North and the competition

David King said 5-6 weeks if the AFL is serious about concussion. Stewart played a good game, but you can very easily make the argument that his hit on Prestia was the difference in the game.
King massively overrates this sort of thing - 2-3 is about right.
These are two good sides. Geelong are a better side this year with Stengle and De Konig.

Eagles, particularly in Perth, may be a different proposition between now and end of the season - decent against the cats last week and got the chocolates tonight.
North are the clear worst side in the league. Which is good news for our Jackson bargaining power...

Jesus. Did you see that injury? That's sickening!!!
Poor bloke.
Absolutely. Dislocated knee or broken leg

A breathtakingly arrogant and ham fisted attempt to change the narrative by De Goey.
Muppet. Surely the risk outweighs the potential reward for any genuine contender, including from a sponsor perspective.

They need a real Coach who has a CV and respect, otherwise they are dead.
It is Noble imoNot sure if you are advocating sticking with Noble or not.
I think they should go for Simpson with everything this year - the backwards momentum this year has been Neeldesque horrendous.
-
Dogs in real trouble to make finals - may need 13 wins this year given how terrible West Coast, North and Essendon are. That means 7-3 from now on with a tough draw

Cats very impressive after losing Kolo before the game and Stewart early on. De Konig has given Naughton a bath

Straight to the tribunal - should be 4-6 weeks

Doggies looking a rabble so far.
+1
If they're not smashing the midfield, their defence and forward lines are very ordinary

21 tackles in the first quarter, 15 total in the next two. Lacking a bit of intensity

On a slightly different point, but relevant to this: I do not see why umpires advise players about not going off the line (or coming back onto it) for a kick after the siren. Surely the players should know the rules. Maybe the umpires will be continually shouting "don't push in the back, don't tackle above the shoulder, don't punch your oppponent in the chin"?
I think this is an example of really good umpiring. I see a fair bit of rugby union and the very best referees do this regularly to make players aware they are looking at something in particular - surely leads to less unnecessary free kicks which is a good thing.
Obviously is only practical in stop play situations.

Its still time wasting. Players can flood back. Yes in this particular circumstance, its unlikely it would have made a difference, but If he was 45 metres out and the goal square was empty it can still be a factor. Just an example of time wasting post the siren.
That's a pretty reasonable argument.
I still tend to think the right call was made, but it's pretty borderline.

If the player on the mark steps forward over the mark a 50 would be paid even if the siren had gone before the kick. No?
In my view yes - that would be impeding play by restricting where the player can properly and legally kick from. Maybe also unsportsmanlike conduct but that's probably irrelevant as definitely the first one.

It was a bloody good game, but with that ending, suspect most talk will be about umpiring.
Personally, not knowing rules, I think that should have been a 50!
Would have been about the umpiring regardless of what decision they made there!
I reckon he heard the siren, not the whistle, and the reason that's normally a 50 is time wasting, which can't apply after the siren.

It’s the prohibitive contact frees most seem bothered with
I get that, and agree it's frustrating. I just get sick of umpiring being the only topic.
This is actually a bloody good game between two flawed sides!
