  1. I took a lot of heart in Paul Roos still rating our list as being very good a couple of months ago. Alas that was before Clarry and Cps departure, but it had to be done and we've still got some good ones coming through. I think Steele will really help us and will probably click more effectively with Viney. Losing McVee will hurt us. Anyways, a good interview. Paul G has to put the chaotic club theme to bed and paint a picture of hope. It's now up to management to find a home for us and Kingy to rebuild us while still staying competitive. Go Dees
  2. Timing is everything with some of these blokes. Look at how good Hogan is now and how much we invested in him when he was a kid. Both our club and Freo got burnt and GWS reap the rewards. The cats seem to be really good at picking the mature recruits and reaping the rewards without the upfront investment. We've invested heavily in Clarry and Tracc but they're human beings in a workplace and a lot them can't maintain the one million$ plus standard for 7 or 8 years. I know it's different with Clarry compared to Hogan but I agree, if he keeps knuckling down Clarry could be AA again. The Jury will be out with Koz as well. Can he stay elite for the whole life of his contract. I love him and I hope so. But he's only human. Staying physically and mentally strong and committed to one club for a decade at an elite level is extraordinary. Hats off to you Max Gawn. Good luck to you Clayton Oliver. I don't have the same admiration for the mercenary CP.
  3. Feedback seems to say he is. It's imperative we improve our kicking. Do we have a skills coach now?
  4. Yep, the 4th goal to Freo in the 1st from a brilliant textbook spoil by Gillard and then the only goal in the third went to Freo from another great spoil which was paid against us. But, Freo nailed those two which makes all the difference and they pressured us really well all day. I thought our second QTR was sensational. Not they we played brilliantly, but we really ground our way back into the game. A sign of a great team. Macca was magnificent and Wotherspoon keeps getting better and better. Banno? Do we need to get her back up the ground? I still think we can steal a flag, but we have to snag 2nd or 3rd or we're stuffed. A challenging season with all of these injuries. You need a fully fit squad to grB a flag but I'm proud of how this team plays. Go Dees
  5. On reflection too, with players of the calibre that they are, neither probably strikes me as being part of the leadership group anyway. Players that are that good usually hit their 30s and step up into a leadership role (and help the likes of Max and Jack to carry the load) It's funny but I see the likes of Langford as a probable captain for us in the future even more than Trac or Oliver have. We have to have faith the coach and club have made the right, hard decisions. Go Dees
  6. Best summation I've seen on this thread. Yes he's blown up, but he did put the effort in to try and redeem himself over the past year or so. An incredible footballer. Very sad for all parties involved. I still think he's going to tear games apart if he knuckles down at a new club. What a mess
  7. Yeah. The same journos that banged on about respecting Clarries mental health not so long ago. Scumbags. I swear I've seen this thread 12 months ago. Might tap out for a while. Hope Clayton is ok and hope he stays.
  8. Those roads between gold coast and Noosa are an absolute shambles. Average commute would be closer to 4 hours unless you travelled at night. Anyways, they can get to Byron in 90 mins. That would suit them. Just named number 1 [censored] town in Australia
  9. Summed it up perfectly. Off ya trot Tracc
  10. How very cool. Glad he's in a good place and he still loves the club.
  11. Yep me too. All in or get out. I know he's been seriously injured but his kicking is a hot mess. You're not a dangerous mid fielder if you can't kick a bloody goal. Hope we just get rid of his salary and pull one or two diamonds in the rough. I'm more disappointed about losing McVee
  12. You think back to some of those classic games and finals where players are just out on their feet. That's when it's fascinating, those last 15 minutes when players are stuffed and pure willpower kicks in. The AFL has a choice on moving towards US style superbowl [censored] or having a desperate contest. I think they'll go in the idiotic kneejerk direction again
  13. Yeah. I was watching the replay last night and thinking how incredibly well we play with and against the breeze. Any game at Casey in the wind is a huge advantage to us. Into the breeze, hard running and short hit ups. With the wind, big long running bombs into an open forward line. Hanks and Hore are just incredible and that last quarter took fantastic concentration to keep the pedal to the metal. We have to tie up second spot to get a home final.
  14. I wonder if it takes a year or so for the fitness to to drop off slowly. We did pretty well in last quarter's for a year or two before the slump was obvious
  15. I think there's more weight to how valuable he was for our premiership effort. Good on him. https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/renowned-fitness-boss-departs-crows-to-join-italian-football-giants-in-big-blow/news-story/2cf16073af0db6694d65921495505cfc
  16. Warwick Capper perhaps?
  17. Great post great topic. I love the game, but not this competition anymore. It's a lopsided circus. Tbh, if rather watch our AFLW team this weekend and follow Casey. I'm getting just as much joy out of a good game of footy from them. They "investigated" Geelong and gave them the thumbs up to continue. Well done to the Hawks, it seems like they built a team more than bought one. Wouldn't be surprised if we had a two tier competition with relegation within the next decade. Seeya Tracc
  18. Maybe you can ask him if he ever had any mates at school who kinda liked a girl a bit and asked her out on a date but told her in the process that he's gunna ask her best friend who he really likes out on a date next week. And he's more than happy to take her out if it all falls through with her best mate next week. That tactic always worked a treat. Fantastic that the panel asked the question and then booted him out.
  19. That's right, there's the inevitable overruns to consider. Will probably end up being more. If you get a chance, look up the great clip of utopia where they talk about building a stadium in Tassie years ago. It's very good. Why not just grow the game across the country with what they've got for a start. Metricon (gold coast) has been half empty for a decade
  20. And the club should be lodging a formal complaint. As usual, we won't
  21. Just another example of how the AFL is not truly supportive of this competition. They demand that it grows while providing an amatuer pool of umpiring and officiating. Half arsed.
  22. I think both the coaching group and the players have done incredibly well to get us in the position we are. 4w 1l with a really solid percentage. We've been decimated with injuries and having Goldy with her run And Gillard back in the team should hopefully steady the ship. I'll take this as a fantastic start considering our injuries. There's a belief in this team that they can somehow still win and they don't give up. If we can get some key players back and finish top 4 for the finals. That would be a huge achievement in itself. Go Dees
  23. Can't help but reflect that Mick and the whole team have embraced both the team first mentality and also showing the love for each other and playing the game more than the blokes at this time. Some great positives. Direct, fast transition through the corridor. Some key players almost ready to step back in. And goal kicking! Go Dees Thanks heaps to the track watchers
