  1. Both above Gws?
  2. Especially with his method acting. Have I gone too far?
  3. Could whip up a good yarn about the father son rule demarcation lines etc.
  4. I agree with the Cats being a good team. The blues win showed scary efficiency going forward and their backline is very strong. Bit the two wins in SA were not the same only one was v a SA team in the Crows. I don't feel at all confident with the way our forward line has been performing. Jvr and Petty really have to give us something. I'm confident that our midfield is a cut above and despite looking flat lately will rise to the occasion. I'd drop Woey for Hore and possibly McAdam as a sub for some more goal firepower.

  6. I once wrote a screenplay with the same name as this thread. A lovely little story about a quaint Victorian trout fishing town whose Mayor tries to lure a GP to it with his daughter as the bait. Over 20 years later still waiting for that big phone call. Won't be long now 😭
  7. Your in better shape than the one who answers with cartoons TC.
  8. I hope you are correct. It sucks how teams like South and Fitzroy have been erased in a few minutes in a comfortable meeting somewhere. All that history, blood sweat and tears gone for the pursuit of a $. Then you have fools complaining these clubs weren't sustainable or " financially viable" Not like Gws and Gcs are. Afl has been pumping money into these hand over fist and they still have little supporter base. I'm not sure I even know where the Giants are based and I live in NSW. First and foremost 18 cubs is plenty. I don't want any more. It just makes it harder for clubs to win a flag than the original 12. 12 was perfect. Almost spiritual in significance. But now we have it, I'll accept 18 for a national competition. So Gcs makes way for Tassie and Gws could go for a team in Nt, Sa or Wa. If North have to go which I don't believe they do surely a merge with a SA team would be better. For a truly national comp it's probably lopsided to have ten Vic teams and only two in other Ozzy rules states.
  9. I was thinking more one of him walking a cat on a leash.
  10. I hope saw. It did incredibly well last year to recapture his old form. But healing and getting back on track is harder for older players. Mfc claims he's 7 to eight weeks away which probably means 12 to 14. Hopefully I'm wrong.
  11. Milkshake may struggle to get back in and have enough time to find form. But maybe that role can be done by McAdam. A fit and firing Salo and Bowey would really help. It might be a stretch for the rucks you mentioned but it would be a game changer to have a successful and one playing that can also impact up fwd. There's plenty of time. We just have to cross our fingers and hope we don't lose anyone else in the interim. Especially one of our mids. I'd also like to see Hunter back in the team. And maybe there is still hope for the Bbb option. I'll be paying close attention to Disco and hoping he can continue last week's game form on a regular basis. Spargo may struggle to get back in but maybe he could see time as a sneaky goal sub. So a lot to consider for the selection committee but as always a lot of success depends on luck. Aside from the players just mentioned, I don't feel we have a great deal of proven depth at present. Especially in our midfielders.
  12. Do we want to see Rivers spend more time in the middle. I'd like Hore for Woey and McAdam in for Laurie too. Although with his two goals v the tigers it's a bit rough. Petty will not get dropped. So these are really the only two options for exclusion I think.
  13. Not a very different team to what we be fielding this year and thank goodness it is not at Kardinia fortress that has been a finals catapult for the cats for so long.
  14. About a year ago in Austinmer Nsw I visited a retro/ antiques store and saw a framed picture of J Garlett in his Melbourne gear Didn't have any funds on me and when I went back a month later. ( this is league country so I thought it would still be there) it was gone. Doh. It was a quality picture and frame of a good size as well. Should've been quicker like the man himself.
  15. Is it easier to play aaa defender than a forward? I've posed this question before but I don't have a definitive answer as yet. Based on Tmac and Petty it's seems so. On the occasion Petty has been in a defensive position this year he has been better . And Tmac looks like a new player this year compared to his efforts fwd last year. I'm wondering because the apparent easy fix would seem to be to swap To and Tmac. But we had Tmac play fwd for the last two years and he was a shadow of his old self complete wit two finals outings where he wasn't sighted. He was clearly injured/ lacking confidence. So why is Tom doing well this year? Ok,he fumbled a few v the tigers but generally he's having a very good season. Is his body in better shape? Why is he so much better? Again, Is it easier to play defence? If not then maybe it would be bad to move him fwd. At least for the odd cameo to see if it's an option in future games. Plus it could reinstate Petty's confidence and form. We certainly need to play Disco fwd again and hopefully that's his new permanent role. Jvrs struggling to hold marks but he's been doing a solid job helping Max. It's a shame he hasnt he's only averaging just over one goal a game but he's still young. I believe that McAdam offered a lot at Casey so that's positive. But Bbb struggled. I would like to see Chandler scoring more. The other positive was young Laurie come in and take his chances and score two goals. So I believe even with Smith, Milkshake and Bbb out we still have the players capable of a 100 point fwd line.
  16. Can't we just somehow text every Geelong player a picture of Max early on game day?
  17. Has it ever happened that both granny teams have missed the final eight in September? It must have happened. Does any one know when? Tx.
  18. Im not sure his fitness is an issue. He seems to be running well and getting to contests. I think the issue is confidence. Or that he's just much better at defending which I think is an easier role.

It's an extra dog act given Clarry 's good sportsmanship that is often on display. And can we stop calling these events " love taps."
  20. Don't get me started . Ps you forgot the moon landing.
  21. You would be more correct to stop at just scheme.
  22. The Port win was great. It's what gives me hope after our last two. I'm holding to the fact that the Port game was the real us. The Crows game was strong too even if it was just the Crows. They were at home with a huge crowd and advantage. I will say I was brave enough to watch the tigers game again and while there were a lot of skill errors I have to admit the tigers did apply a lot of pressure and tackled relentlessly. So it wasn't as disappointing as previously thought. The lions game hopefully was fatigue.I am worried about our fwd line. Not just the marking but the half fwd connection. This Geelong game is a real litmus test for us. Bring it on.
  23. I'm a Petty supporter. I'm just wondering if we have that luxury of patience with him. It's a big risk and the idea of some more time in the backline to get him some confidence isn't without merit. The problem being is the backline is doing very well without him. We can carry him for want of a better expression against teams like the tigers but the cats are a very different proposition. I do hope I'm wrong and he finally starts holding marks and kicking quite a few next week. He's not going to be dropped unless Goody decides to go a completely different route and trial Fullerton. But that would probably be too risky a in such a big game. If Jvr was performing a little better marking wise, we wouldn't look so exposed. I'm guessing he plays fwd again with Turner in the mix. But with all due respect , I think you could be wrong about nothing giving. I don't believe anyone could fluke the success Petty had fwd last year but If he keeps playing like he has, Goody will have no choice but to make a change. Let's hope he doesn't.
  24. Cats currently on top of the ladder and yesterday proved why. Beaten convincingly in inside 50 s, disposals and marks they showed how their precision and running allow for little error from top tier teams like Carlton. Definitely a tough game on the horizon for us but a chance too to get back to our best and reassert our contention. Our touted mids will need to be at their best and our fwd line will need to be restructured to kick a good score. Can't keep just relying on our backline and Max.
