May take a while but ultimately I see Woey playing more forward or a role in the middle at times.
-
We are lacking in depth to teams like Carlton who have 11 players out and are doing well. I think we are definitely lacking depth in our midfield and our fwd line is still injury depleted or out in Smith, Bbb ( playing injured possibly, McAdam and Milkshake.
-
Maybe he could put some pressure on Sparrow when either of those two come back.
-
Not sure if Woey has been great down back . Line ball. Goody doesn't really change a big margin win. Fair enough.

Weeks Spent at the Top & Bottom of the Ladder Since 2000

The advantage hits home in my above post that stipulates despite their double decade dominating of top spot they have two flags. This smacks of a team being propped up by a drastic home advantage to see them fade away without it come finals time and against teams that were actually better. Does the same apply to Ports home advantage with only one flag? -

Aside from the Cats Outlier we are pretty much bang in the middle. Interesting because prior to 21 we were at a grand sum of 3. How bad things really were. The cats anomaly is interesting. Firstly it's interest stems from the enjoyment it didn't correlate to cup wins. Second it's obviously due to some external fact.... Oh, now I remember ...how about soft fixtures and a decent number of games at the stadium from hell? On reflection, Port are the same. -
I thoroughly believe had Gus stayed in the game or been replaced by an equal sub ( not Laurie) we would have won that game. Or with Melksham not injured the game prior or Bbb injured too or Petty. It was a nightmare of fwd injuries. So it's hard to say that our makeshift fwd line did well with the poor inside 50 entries or not. And yea the entries were not great. As mentioned earlier some easy shots were missed. But we were very unlucky. Not that you can really call Maynard's act a luck element.

Pretty good return. Yep. I'd keep it that way. You've done well . I won fifty on two up on ANZAC day this year. I don't think I'll play it again either. -

Played the pokies for the first time a couple of months ago aka the slots ...one armed bandits No such exercise. No heavy lifting required. Just press a button. Whir. Click. Buzz. Spin. Fifty cents down the dunny. Whir ...spin A JACKPOT. Two dollars. Whir spin.....you get the point, if like me you were dumb enough to play them....ten mins later ten bucks removed from my person. Game over. Everything tried in life ( almost).. once right? But how people play these on a regular basis is sad. I'm all for everyone getting their buzz on but how this could be it and the cost involved... I'll never understand. I'll play black jack on the cruise ship. I mean at least there's a sporting chance and some fun. And maybe betting in the past on ponies and Afl ...at least there's. skill/ knowledge involved . Well for some. But those machines suck. Funny, I recall people driving to Echuca to play them. Shame it's not still the way. Might be good for the clubs but not the patrons. A fool and their money I suppose. -

Love to see a Darwin team. It would probably have to rotate between Alice and Darwin to work but even then the numbers aren't that good. Also AS has a bit of an image problem at the moment. One things for sure is that Tassie and the Nt residents love their footy. Will Hobart struggle with it's small population? Maybe it's a growing city. Will need to be to fully support an Afl team. Again.....Let's just get rid of Gws and Gcs. -

Could whip up a good yarn about the father son rule demarcation lines etc. -
I agree with the Cats being a good team. The blues win showed scary efficiency going forward and their backline is very strong. Bit the two wins in SA were not the same only one was v a SA team in the Crows. I don't feel at all confident with the way our forward line has been performing. Jvr and Petty really have to give us something. I'm confident that our midfield is a cut above and despite looking flat lately will rise to the occasion. I'd drop Woey for Hore and possibly McAdam as a sub for some more goal firepower.

I once wrote a screenplay with the same name as this thread. A lovely little story about a quaint Victorian trout fishing town whose Mayor tries to lure a GP to it with his daughter as the bait. Over 20 years later still waiting for that big phone call. Won't be long now 😭 -
Your in better shape than the one who answers with cartoons TC.

I hope you are correct. It sucks how teams like South and Fitzroy have been erased in a few minutes in a comfortable meeting somewhere. All that history, blood sweat and tears gone for the pursuit of a $. Then you have fools complaining these clubs weren't sustainable or " financially viable" Not like Gws and Gcs are. Afl has been pumping money into these hand over fist and they still have little supporter base. I'm not sure I even know where the Giants are based and I live in NSW. First and foremost 18 cubs is plenty. I don't want any more. It just makes it harder for clubs to win a flag than the original 12. 12 was perfect. Almost spiritual in significance. But now we have it, I'll accept 18 for a national competition. So Gcs makes way for Tassie and Gws could go for a team in Nt, Sa or Wa. If North have to go which I don't believe they do surely a merge with a SA team would be better. For a truly national comp it's probably lopsided to have ten Vic teams and only two in other Ozzy rules states. -

I was thinking more one of him walking a cat on a leash.

I hope saw. It did incredibly well last year to recapture his old form. But healing and getting back on track is harder for older players. Mfc claims he's 7 to eight weeks away which probably means 12 to 14. Hopefully I'm wrong.
-
Milkshake may struggle to get back in and have enough time to find form. But maybe that role can be done by McAdam. A fit and firing Salo and Bowey would really help. It might be a stretch for the rucks you mentioned but it would be a game changer to have a successful and one playing that can also impact up fwd. There's plenty of time. We just have to cross our fingers and hope we don't lose anyone else in the interim. Especially one of our mids. I'd also like to see Hunter back in the team. And maybe there is still hope for the Bbb option. I'll be paying close attention to Disco and hoping he can continue last week's game form on a regular basis. Spargo may struggle to get back in but maybe he could see time as a sneaky goal sub. So a lot to consider for the selection committee but as always a lot of success depends on luck. Aside from the players just mentioned, I don't feel we have a great deal of proven depth at present. Especially in our midfielders.
-
Do we want to see Rivers spend more time in the middle. I'd like Hore for Woey and McAdam in for Laurie too. Although with his two goals v the tigers it's a bit rough. Petty will not get dropped. So these are really the only two options for exclusion I think.

Not a very different team to what we be fielding this year and thank goodness it is not at Kardinia fortress that has been a finals catapult for the cats for so long.
