PREGAME: Rd 07 vs North Melbourne

I think the seasons a lot tighter too with more teams a chance for the grand prize. Hopefully we have a much better run with less injuries and gather some cohesion along with momentum winning the next 3. At the risk of ire, I still hold hope for Bbb. -

Thanks Demon Dynasty, I hope you are right. Interesting point about Harmes and Daicos. Still can't get used to hearing Kb round. Maybe Kevin Barlett?😃 -

Maybe. For me he just doesn't seem to be strong enough in the legs to take contested marks or shrug off opponents. He's definitely athletic enough, fast and reads the play well but I'm pretty confident he's much more suited to defending. -

It's a worry that neither tmac or bbb took their chance for a definitive spot in the seniors. Anyone that doesn't think we have a forward line problem is kidding themselves. Thank goodness for Jvr stepping up but he's still a young unknown. Not saying he won't perform but it's not guaranteed and we don't know at what level. He's only got 5 games in fgs. Kozzie is up and down and Fritta though ok isn't where he used to be at. Credit to Goody for trying the Petty option but as much as always hoped for it, he wasn't really up to it. Maybe with Gawn back in he will help out but his kicking still worries me. If we are going to win a flag thus year we definitely need either Tmac or Bbb to come good or a long shot in Schache. And it needs to happen soon. Our fwd line fell apart last year and it saw us drop out in straight sets. Any suggestions? -

Tx George. Is Spargo coming back in? -
The tackling by Cwood in the last quarter was ferocious. It's what was lacking from us against Essendon. Even the tackles we did lay were not very intense.

I didn't realise Grundy was this good.

I think he's been good. His tap work especially. He does need to take more marks. -

Was talking to a mate today who knows several veterans. He reckons they all think there's been a recent resurgence over the last 10 years in the interest and respect for the day. At my local Rsl in Bulli Nsw which isn't a big suburb of Wollongong, there was close to 600 to 700 people at 5.15 in the morning. I'd say that was pretty uniting. I hope you enjoyed the one near you. I understand your near St Kilda Rd, so close to the Shrine of remembrance which is supposed to be a great service. Cheers.

Does Kade make the grade, or will it be Chandlermonium

Great observations. The club has done some wonderful recruitment and investment in Rivers, Mcvee, Bowey, Jvr and Chandler. 5 players who probably have the collective total games of less than maybe 60 odd. -
I know our win looked scrappy and rough. There were several mistakes and bad decisions. But on reflection the game is no ordinary one. The special day and crowd are never conditions that are conducive to a perfect win. And credit to Ricmond in the pressure they applied. Also we have constantly through injuries been rotating players. It takes time for them to find form and allow systems to work properly. Add in our travel and some shocking umpiring( not the frees paid but the inconsistency in the ones not paid to us) and the win seems more respectable. The big upside was Jvr who kicked 3 in the last. Could have been 4. Not many youngsters in their 4th game who have been nullified all night by their opponent, shake it off and do that before 80k people. Jack is back and is having a bumper season. Gawn stepped in after an injury and several weeks off and reminded us why his work ethic and contested marking are so integral to us. Lever ditto. The youngsters Mcvee and Chandler continue to impress. Our forward line has a bit of room to improve. We just need Bbb to come back and play at his best and Kozzie to do what we know he can. Winners are grinners again.

Umps continue their poor form.

Thanks that. That's a great effort and very surprising. Couldn't tell by the noise on telly though except for the Roo cheer.

They sure are, I thought it was Redgum.

Can anyone at the game last night give a guestimate of the Dees v tigers fans?

PREGAME: Rd 07 vs North Melbourne

Disappointed bbb was goaless and Tmac with only one in the magoos. A spot for one of them but they didn't really take their opportunity. Doesn't bode well. -
I'm not faulting Grundys rucking. He's very good. I also think he's pretty good at ground level. I just think one mark for tge game isn't good from a ruckman. Even with Max out he's struggled taking marks little own contested ones. If he can be more of a successful go to target it would really make a difference.

I thought Sparrow played his best game for the year. Nibbler was good too. I was lamenting our fwd line issues but I feel better now after Jvrs fantastic last quarter. He needs another tall to help out . I don't think it's Petty and its not Tmac. Grundy has been good but it astounds me that a man his size can take only one mark for the whole game. This stat is no outlier and it's a worrying part of his game. Pickett needs to stop those specky attempts and get back to crumbing. Jv is back to his best. Loving Chandler and Mcvee. Max makes such a difference. I know I bang on about the umpiring but it wasn't the soft frees the tigers got time after time, it was the great ammount of frees we should have got but didn't. On the rare occasion we received a free, the umps blew the whistle very late, almost as if they didn't want to. Sometimes only after all the players had stopped. It was an atrocious effort on their part. It wasn't a pretty game but the Tigers had lost two in a row and threw everything at us. They tackled hard and played fast. In the end I think our fitness prevailed. It's interesting that we have won every last quarter this year. Now we just have to work on winning the first and second more often.

Max and Lever 18 marks. Makes a difference. Jvr turns it on at the right time. Umps go and get...
