I've always thought he is one of our elite players. He has dramatically dropped in form since last year.

Even with the same performances from last year... Grundy up fwd for Schache would be an improvement in anyone's book. -
Great the Afls promo trailer is showcasing a lot of bumps.

Let's hope so.

Grundy and Max didn't work. Grundy could mark and had a poor season. Maybe if we persevered it could have. Certainly worth a try given who we have at present though . -

I know it doesn't nullify our poor performance last night by so many but it was a big stage game. Record Sydney crowd ever at the Scg with the club celebrating it's history by hosting hundreds of old players. Almost a finals type atmosphere in slippery humid conditions as a first game isn't ideal. Hopefully next year we play our first game at home. -
Not the one I watched.

Max looked tired and Grundy never played that well for us.

It was humid as can be. Sydneys humidity leaves Melbournes heat for dead. But it's a national comp so no excuse. -
Or replace Bbb and Tmac 3 years ago when they started struggling?
-
I'm starting to think.....No Max firing. No win.

Was one of our better last night .

I'm still annoyed at the lack of response against Maynard.

Really think we need more from Nibbler. He seems to have lost a lot of his form. As has Langdon, Lever and Rivers. Time for Chandler to find himself at Casey and Laurie should never have left them.
-
Sadly we will see him again. It's what happens when key fwds are out from serious injuries for several seasons and the club just sits around doing nothing about it. Oh sorry we recruited Grundy for a season. My bad.
-
We really shot ourselves in the foot by not playing him in the finals. I really feel that Goody is too inflexible But the fact he didn't play finals I think shows there was some bad blood about. The way Grundy played last night intimated this as well. You make some good points. Certainly Grundy was the most motivated, I've ever seen him play It's not a great look at all for other players thinking about moving.

Agreed. The blokes could not mark for us. He did well last night but we'll see if he was playing on revenge fumes.

Hasn't Jvr only had one year in the team. Not saying you said otherwise ...I think it was deecisive. He was great against Carlton last game. Problem is he gets the biggest and best defender all night. He played poorly tonight . I would like to see him further up the ground as a genuine chf. That's his true spot. I'm not privy to what licence he has to roam. I actually thinks he moves quite well for his size. Im pretty sure it's his only his second season this one so He has plenty of time to become a fifty plus scorer. In fact i think hid progress is tracking nicely. But he can't do it alone and with the other tall being Schache, he effectively is. I hope Fullerton , Bbb or preferably Petty can be in there asap . Let's hope the worry of Petty being injury prone is baseless and he's our other fifty plus contender. Throw in McAdam, Kozzie and a nother goal sneaks....maybe Nibbler ( I had high hopes for Chandler but they have almost gone,)..maybe Worry. Rotate Viney and Tracca through there and we may be ok. -

Well said. I moved to Northern Illawarra,13 years ago ...about a 80 min drive to the Scg. It was about 24 degrees here today ( usually the same as Sydney) but the humidity always makes it feel five to six degrees hotter. Although 900 kms south of Brisbane, Sydneys humidity is pretty similar to it. It makes a hot Summers day in Melbourne relatively cool. Sydney is incredibly humid and will shock those from Melbourne. You can walk down the street in the morning for five mins and need to change your shirt. It would have been a factor. It would account for a slippery ball and fumbles. But it doesn't explain away the fact we kicked poorly and played sloppy. There are way too many players who have dropped on form and quite a few not up to standard. It's one game so we will see next week. Speaking of weather, I'm noticing more and more how much of a barometer Max is. Sadly he played poorly tonight and it's no surprise that when he does, we lose. -

I think most people agree with this SoNS. But Schache is just a filler. If others were fit he wouldn't have been there tonight. The problem is he's not a good " filler." Hard to think that Grundy didn't play in our last final. -

Not a fan of the ruck rule changes. I guess Grundy was in his rights and did well to close in like he did. It's just not a good look for the game for me. Looks like cheating -

I hope that was the main factor but I doubt it's that easy. -

I don't think you would get much opposition to this opinion. The problem being is he is really there by default. Played a serviceable one against the Blues in the Praccy game . He's been given an opportunity. He could have welcomed it tonight but didn't. He may get another chance because of other players injured but for me I don't want him selected again. When he plays It basically means we have others injured that should be there instead. I'm surprised we kept him this year. Maybe he was contracted. Wasn't he number two in the 2015 in the national draft? Sheesh. -

Was a strange one. But Billings played for over a quarter and showed very little too. -

Or the five gamer in Laurie to replace Gus in the game against cwood. Genius.
