yeah, he seems to be guarding the space intuitively moreso than moving in for a kill tackle.... & it looks like he isn't 'Footy intuitive' without the ball, but with the ball, he looks to burst thru physical pressure to find space which is good. I think all the changing of coaches would have harmed his development, & rushing into footy before he was ready.

he's using some parts of his game,,, but he's not key position, not even close, at this stage. and he's Not a key player, Yet... he's just using his most natural assets, the easiest thing to do in a tough sport. but he's nowhere near rounded as a footballer, & is headed the way of other past talents we've recruited TJ, TS, JG, et al.

anyone with some footy sense new Jack was not ready & didn't deserve his 1st game in a QB clash... it was fool hardy to do this for marketing ploys. possibly should not have played that year. we just keep rushing our kids in to show them off. ... they should be 'men players' first, before getting their 1st game. & its the same reasons we haven't developed our others. this imo has a lot to do with our poor culture onfield, & the pandering that goes on off field.

he is certainly Not key position deezee... atmo he plays much smaller.. he plays as a flanker style/winger. too outside in his minds eye, IMO. I Know, he ventures into packs... but he is not free & easy with this, to allow him to be more effective. I think Roos could work well with him, but most others I think would struggle to get him onside.

this is the sort of thing the pulls the wool over our supporters eyes... looking great & playing fantastic flashy attacking footy, sometimes with enormously talented teams,,, yet still lose. "how is it So", John can only be that our opponents have better professionalism, play responsible pressure footy, & make the right intelligent decisions at the right time.... this is leadership, leadership on all lines being responsible for one anothers dreams. ....... they play as a Unit, where we play as a collective (of talented individuals),,,,,,,, look great, play exciting, but lose. lets get the balance right, & Shift this sick, soft, front running culture out, & bring in a real community culture where people can prosper together.

This is the problem hood, of Melbourne of the past 20 years, or more. ... plenty of talent, but even when we are a power, we keep on underachieving & falling just short,,, when the power clubs Win, with less talent, & better efforts & attitudes. our lazy attitudes have been handed down & adopted, over & over again... this is a part of why melbourne has failed to nail a Flag since 1964.

theres where our laziness comes from, & I think they did not invent it at melbourne either.... this heritage has to stop.

    I like this, yes please.

Jacko used to kick a lot of goals as well... so did warwick.

yeah it does look like that, like nonplussed lack of focus... but this can be caused by a myriad of reasons. he has the intelligence, but does he have the footy IQ? the intuitiveness that 'Stevie J' operates from?

I think this is it really, I've changed my mind as Paul Roos suggested he's a keeper, & obviously wants the chance to sort him out. at the very least he'll make him a better footballer even if he does not become a key Posi player. he may be a permanent winger, or he may just go, down the track.

one of the problems is he's too economical.
  13. dee-luded replied to jabberwocky's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
responsible play with a lot of pressure on the Opp' first, then offensive weapons to rebound with as the icing. we've had a tradition of just wanting the icing & cream.... Roos, depth is the key he thinks,,, 17th - 22nd players are the advantage after the guns cancel one another out. so great decision making & disposal are keys to not letting the team down. I think Jeremy Howe will benefit enormously from Roos.

You can see it WYL, you do understand. ... so why can't you understand the negative influences of not having a home base outside the 'G'... a grounding place. I think you have to go O/S every year looking for yours?

Isn't it easier to trade a player in contract, otherwise they can walk? 2 years, & we can both decide how things look after 12 - 15 months... If he's still lost out there, we can look for a suitable option for him & us.
  16. dee-luded replied to jabberwocky's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
No I don't think its that certain... I think all our players have been progressively worried about the Club direction (belief), & how that effects their careers, & therefore it effects their desire, commitment & output.
  17. dee-luded replied to jabberwocky's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
give him a 2 Yr contract & see what can be done. we give one another 2 seasons to see how things turn. if it doesn't work, we can workout a deal then.

I think its belief in the club, & following that, its commitment. remember Josh hunt, was it last year, when he ducked his head a couple of weeks running? it think that was wavering commitment, causing a mental distraction, focus off ball & onto peripheral things.

Yep 96 - 98 Kegs should do Jack W, imo.. keep his versatile abilities... now with these recent events since last night, I'm back in the keep JW grouping... as I think the new coach scenario will allow the whole group to have a change of attitude. & motivations. this could save JW's career.

its not the attitudes that he has. its the attitudes that he adopts as he grows. if our forces of softness infect him, he's shot. he has to adopt the forces of hardness. we have to get all our players, skilled types or rugged types, to get the hard, rough, mentally tough & ruthless & hard working edge, & drop the pretense of nice...

I think what we're reaping now has been on the brew since Tugga finished, but it wasn't on the surface for a part timer like me to see. I lost interest at that time of tugga going. & pretty much stopped watching tests. this is the result of poor off field leadership creating a vacuum from weak board leadership. they should be on the pulse & quickly fix things years back.. But these modern days 'Spin' has tried to control the public's perception with false media. pulls the wool only for a short time, til the reality becomes obvious to our eyes witness. we should have a cleanout of the ACB at the end of this test series, prior to the boys coming home.

I think we've used it poorly as everyone has said, but this is also a reflection of a struggling playing environment under strain, making off pulse decisions.. a clear head comes from an environment where stress is reduced, & support aplenty. happy souls have healthy minds.

its suggested that Ricciardo is leading the race for seat 2 @ Red Bullsh. don't do it Daniel... you don't want to be trained into being a backup, for others... hold onto your dreams. wait for the merry go round to settle, & try for a seat @ Mclaren or Mercedes...

the more difficult the team game, the more important the team cohesive environment needs to be... ... even golfers have to have a great repore with caddy, & their coach, & freinds around, look what happened to the greatest golfer when his world tipped upside down... & he owned Golf, just prior.. you say this game is the hardest to adjust to, & I say all the more reason to have players come into a mature environment, (mature, meaning they all are considerate & supportive & understanding of one another) ..... then the coach can weave his secret spells, whilst the team focuses on the game before them. look at Clark last night, all of a sudden he's becoming more fatherly & supportive.. helping Starc was one I noticed early... Boof is really teaching this Mob, & Clark is all ears... you can see him up on the balcony, many times working with Clark, philosophising to him. & he's learning .... the results are there for all of us to see, the changes happening before our eyes. culture/environment: for those kids... & khawaja, coming into the septic team in the last few years would be impossible... now he has so much doubt after past failures he needs to come in via the back door this next time, or he's finished. he has to bat at 5, or even 6, to find form, before later elevation. the other kids coming in need to arrive to a happy environment were the theme is supportive, & disciplined to cricket & fun. Fun & laughter the complete antidote to stress & fear.
