  1. Cute. I wonder how many other clubs supporters have mocked up a similar template. I miss Whiteboard Wednesdays....
  2. Ollie was built like a bull and his hands were also always really good. I'll put my hand up for wanting Toumpas ahead of Wines that year but I just can't see the Mathieson/Wines comparison other than that they're both competitors. We need more than that from our picks though. We have a host of competitive players/mids now. We need class, kicking skills and footy smarts as well as a player who is competitive and that shouldn't be too hard to ask for especially at pick 3. Pick 7 will be decided on a 'who's left' basis.
  3. Would also love Rioli. He's outrageous. Looks exactly the same as Cyril. Would be happy if we snapped him up at 7 too. Francis at 3 and Rioli at 7. Choices...
  4. Mathieson just looks like a grunt player who doesn't provide much else from my limited viewing. A bit like Matt Crouch. Parish and Francis. Please.
  5. Not sure that's right.. From the 08 draft if I remember correctly.
  6. Effectively an upgrade on any of McKenzie, Bail or Fitzy. I'm excited for that reason alone.
  7. 3 - Parish 7 - Francis That is all. Natural footballers. Competitive. Elite users and decision makers. Francis just sounds a safer bet than Curnow from my limited reading. And from this limited reading, this is who I'd like.
  8. Where the fark can I find some Curnow highlights other than the three seconds that are shown on his 'future stars' interview? Is this bloke the real deal? I keep hearing comparisons made with Stringer and Fyfe. But is a natural footballer like them? Does he understand the game? Or is he another athletic 'modern day prototype' player with X-factor? (ie Jared Brennan) I want a motherhucking footballer.
  9. How are these 'exchange of picks' to improve our draft position looking? Tell me it'll happen.
  10. A speculative 200cm athletic giraffe. Was never a footballer. I never rated him. Won't get a gig with the Hawks.
  11. Another problematic and virus-like player gone. See-ya.
  12. Agree wholeheartedly. Compare the characters and personality qualites of Howe and Frawley to even Stretch and ANB and you can see what the club are trying to build. A club of substance. A core group of players who have a clue and genuinely care.
  13. Trade periods are generally always underwhelming and it's only because over the last few seasons we've had no choice but to chase and add immediate talent and experience to our side. Vince, Tyson, Cross etc. Clearly we're still a year or two away from being able to attract top-end developed talent, (stars) from other clubs and all this trade period says to me is exactly that. Rather than hit what is supposedly a shallow draft with selections ranging from second-rounders to fourth-rounders, we've gone the further step and brought in Melksham, Kennedy and soon to be Bugg. All players are further advanced, are harder bodies and will contribute more immediately than any of the draft picks we've had to give up so far. Not only that, but Melksham and Kennedy are both previous top 20 picks. Do posters continually ignore that? Both have enormous scope for improvement. When you've got players like Treloar and Dangerfield moving clubs and so much talk surrounding us targeting a 'big nam' player, it obviously obscures people's views of what is a successful trade period and what isn't. So far we've been going our business and we're improving our list. Little by little. Like others I'm hoping we can improve our draft position by trading a bundle of picks. Not sure how it would look. But it makes sense for us to nail the draft again with that first pick and if we can get closer to the top 5 then it's happy days. The club are clearly confident that our young core are really building and developing the right way. There will be a star or two born from the core. Next year we'll see natural improvement from Brayshaw, Hogan, Salem, Viney, Tyson, Vandenberg and Gawn. If we can stay pretty injury free next year, we're not going to see anywhere near the form slumps we did this season. Melksham, Kennedy and Bugg will contribute to that. Let's bring Dion home next year and perhaps try for another serious talent. We'll be a much more attractive destination. Until then, let's ride the roller-coaster.
  14. Obvious to say that when he's at his best and playing with confidence, he's a valuable player. Clearly Goodwin and McCartney believe that he can get back to playing like that with some simplified roles and a new environment. Melksham isn't like Michie, Newton or Riley. He's a previous top 10 pick who's played a whole season (2013), in a manner that validated why he was a top 10 draft pick. Let's get him playing at that level again. Welcome Jake.
  15. I'm sure we'd like either. But we'll need pick 3 to have the chance of landing one. Here's hoping Howe goes to Gold Coast so we can do swapskies of picks.
  16. Like it a lot. With the knowledge that established stars of the game still don't want to come to our club, the next best thing would be for us to improve our draft position and if we could do a deal with Gold Coast that involves Howe and our pick 6 for their pick 3 and a later pick it'd be ideal. Means we could land Parish (as you say), or Francis. Hope it happens.
  17. With Elliott, Broomhead and Fasolo as small forwards and then Adams, Sidebottom, De Goey and Varcoe as rotating mid/forwards, I think it's pretty obvious as to why Kennedy has had such little opportunity. It's a good thing really, he's developed well and played some really consistent VFL footy this year. He had a really good run of games in the VFL in which he was averaging around the 30 possession mark and we know he uses the ball really well and is dangerous around goals. Pretty good signs from a small forward if you ask me. To have someone who can find the ball and be damaging with it is something we haven't seen much of at the Dees. He's another smart target by our recruiting team. I see Kent as being more of a traditional high forward flanker with his hard running and penetrating kick. Kennedy, JKH and Garlett as stay at home small forwards with the ability to have stints in the middle.
  18. Interesting. That's why blokes like Curnow are always a worry. Rockets up the draft order because of his athleticism and 'raw talent' rather than his footballing ability. Kicking is an absolute must. Have Hawthorn not shown that for the last 7 years? I hope he's not in our calculations. Just give me a footballer who's athletic attributes can be worked on over pre-seasons.
  19. Get it happening. If reports are true of the Tiges wanting Grimes then throw in a pick with him and we'll take Lennon. Grimes and a 3rd rounder for Lennon? I think we need to keep building on this 'core' young group who will be the ones driving the club in a few years. Salem Viney Brayshaw Petracca Hogan Tyson 'The Core' All really highly talented and competitive kids at a similar age.. The driving force. Players like Melksham, Bugg and Kennedy obviously help by adding depth and providing immediate relief and protection for some of the other kids we have coming through. We'll also need a couple more experienced heads like Cross over the next year or two. But the most important thing for us at the moment is to keep adding to this group. Lennon fits the bill. Skilled, competitive and at a similar age.
  20. Good get. Happy with a second rounder. I reckon the haters will be surprised next year. Perfect case of a talented player not playing to his potential at a rabble of a club.
