What pisses me off is that we beat the Saints and probably deserve it more than them if it wasn’t for that debacle in Cairns.
-
Geez the Suns are a frustrating team to watch. They could have easily won that if they had more composure. A lot of dumb players too.

Think the Pies will run away with this in the second half. Suns need to start converting their chances.
Geez I wish DeGoey wasn’t playing. It’d be a different ball game

Those last 30 seconds took an eternity.
Go Hawks
Go Suns
Go Giants (big win please)
Go Freo
Go Port
Go Dees!- 3

Giants have made too many changes to win this. I’m actually confident we’ll beat them by 20+ points.
Still think we’re doubtful for finals though unless Clarko pulls a rabbit out of the hat to beat the dogs.

Fantastic result for our #Bradbury2020 plan. If Saints lose to GWS after we beat them then we’ll take their spot.

Melbourne's membership dropped by almost a qtr (22.6%) between 2019 and 2020
The biggest drop in the AFL this year.
A lot of clubs had drops due to Covid, although the saints increased their's by 13% so it shows some clubs still had growth.

So assuming we win our last two, basically we need one of the three to happen in order to make the eight:
1) Pies lose both their last two games (GC and Port)
2) Saints lose both their last two games (WCE and GWS)
3) Dogs lose one of their last two games (Hawks and Freo)
I actually think the most likely is the Dogs dropping one of their games. Hawks are due for a win I feel.

Clearly Clarko.
Surely the Hawks will get rid of him this year.
If he becomes available, Melbourne needs to have the finger on the trigger to get him. I don't think it's happening until 2021 or 2022 though.

From a final at the MCG with 90k fans to losing up in Cairns at an oval with plastic garden chairs. How a lot has changed in 2 years...

[censored] Cairns. When is Richmond playing there? Oh wait, they never have to play these sort of games.
-
I know it’s his second game, but how is Bedford on -15 ranking/SuperCoach points? Can’t get much worse than that.

Agree with others on here. It was quite a light weight interview.
Mike may have had more questions but Trengove really waffled on when answering some basic questions. I felt he repeated himself numerous times and could have been a lot more concise with his answers.

I think we'll win tonight, but not by much. I can only hope that the players have acclimatised by now and have trained at Cazaly's to understand the conditions a bit better.
Longmire had a strategy for kicking with the win and against the wind. Goodwin needs to adopt this same approach.

This isn't a dig at SWYL's 4 year post which is a valid discussion point, but exactly 2 years ago was one of the best nights at the MCG for many of us in recent years...

After dabbling with the ladder predictor recently, I can confirm that the Saints losing this is a very good result for our chances of making the 8.
They’re so good that if they drop this and if the Dogs don’t beat anyone above them, then we could potentially only need to win against the bombers to make the 8, but only if the Giants also beat the Saints. A win against the Giants/Freo for us as well would almost guarantee it.

Brayshaw, Jones and Harmes all confirmed outs.

Port having no issues “turning up” to the game tonight despite flying in from Adelaide this morning. Wish Melbourne could have done the same.

Anyone remember what Port we’re doing earlier this year? 4 am flights fly in fly out ring a bell? Stop making excuses for this mob. They are mentally fragile. A team that truly wants to win would have found a way.
How many sitters did we miss? Despite being 5 goals down we had every opportunity to win the game in the last Q. [censored] weak. I’m not a Goodwin fan but this performance was utterly disgraceful by the players.
That's true. Port did have two early starts when they played the Giants and again they did it against the Blues. Both of them were narrow wins, however.
I think the top teams who are well drilled cope with these inconveniences better.

Sydney were in Cairns on Saturday, and were training at Cazaly for a couple of days.

Well we can’t rely on our opposition to fly 2hrs up on game day to make them a bit battle weary. Freo did the smart thing and flew up there today (4 days ahead of Monday’s game).

not to mention up at 7am for the 2 hour bus ride before the flight (according to Trac). terrible preparation
excuses yes. but still
GWS played in Perth on Saturday night yet were on the Sunshine Coast 3 days ago and then just took a bus to Metricon today.
Is this some hub protocol or did Melbourne royally [censored] up their logistics here today? Why wouldn’t they have flown to Cairns on Sunday or Monday?

Would prefer a 2016/17 Jack Watts over him.

Has anyone raised the fact that the Swans have been in Cairns since Saturday (and training at Cazaly since) while we flew up this morning?
I don’t know about you, but being on a plane flight for 2hrs and then expect to play a side that’s been there for 5 days and already training there seems a bit rough.
The performance was inexcusable but this further highlights the inequality of this season.

NON MFC: Round 18
in Melbourne Demons

Would love to know why the Dogs (hubbbing in Gold Coast) were to allowed to travel to Cairns the day before while Melbourne had to basically swim the English channel to get to the game on game day for an earlier starting match.
