  1. Ooh, look! A puppy! What was I thinking
  2. Allow me to be the first: "That's not going to help..." (so, a special appeal to the as-yet-unsigned: give us something to be positive about this week. Please?)
  3. 51 years is 1965. Commiserations, Deever. You have earnt venting rights.
  4. I reckon there's quite a bit of the "Don't Argue", physically and mentally, in our team now!
  5. What I've been liking over the 3 NAB games and Round 1 is the style we've been playing (when we haven't been lapsing a la the middle of last week) - vigour, run, flair, instinct, persistence, etc - and I'm looking forward to more of that, and a win will certainly result if (when!) it happens.
  6. It'll be just our cluck if we lose. Serious note: Any response by MFC members/supporters should respect ND (and to some extent PJ too)
  7. So, had there been a grand final (next weekend being available!), we would have been in it, and probably at our new favourite venue, against a team that - if I'm not mistaken - didn't have to travel out of their home state for their 3 games!
  8. Was right in front of me. Nate initiated it and sucked him (Dylan Roberton) right in, with the umpire no more than 10 metres away with a great view! Always worth a try! The Saints-heavy crowd on that wing gave Roberton heaps, which added a nice spice to the occurrence!
  9. I'd like to see Max King grasp the CHF role like his business partner, the other Maxy, grasped the ruck role at Kardinia Park last year, including the seeming come-from-nowhere aspect that would certainly be true of Max K should he do so!
  10. Redleg, your post was perhaps prompted by the Pies' narrow win (coming from 6 goals down at 1/2 time) over a 'full strength' Dogs today? Raising 2 questions: How does our defeat of a lesser-strength Dogs rate us? How do we compare with that fuller strength Dogs and the Pies that narrowly beat them? Against the background that we have - in a pleasant new development - won both games so far coming back from well behind. I think if we can quell teams' rebound from halfback, as the Pies appeared to do to the Dogs in the 2nd half today, we can match it with the Pies and Dogs of the comp. The half-forward pressure we have exhibited so far, in terms of numbers at the ball and the tackling, in the relatively substantial parts of the games so far, will go a good way to achieving that if we can keep it up.
  11. Don't let them finish as far away as 10th (pick 9). 9th is their calling (pick 10). Mind you, after last night's carnage, they might be in line for pick 1 and a priority?
  12. Top quality pics O'Fiddy! I've noticed this in the two games so far and it's also evident in your 6th and 9th pics and in the background of your pic 3: We should run a book on which round Ben Kennedy will be blood-ruled off having bitten his tongue!
  13. The logical conclusion of the article, and the examples used to support it, is that the grand final winning coach would always be the coach of the year. Probably the right conclusion btw, in these days of equaliseverything. So why do/would they even bother with a year-long-voted award? Not only mickey mouse but probably daffy ducked, too.
  14. There was a survey(?) a little while go as to whether there should be a separate women's section on DL. Has that been decided? I think (as I think I posted then) that it should be just as much a part of DL as Casey discussions (if not more so). Apart from the watchability, and the expectation that our team's games will provide us with the curtain-raiser experience again, at last, this is going to provide us with premiership satisfaction - possibly even before this current crop of boys do!
  15. How deeply can he get back into the media (for 'the big bucks') and still have a meaningful role at the club (for the 'not so big')? What sort of media might be off limits? He manages '360' while deeply in the club...
  16. "Kalani"? Anyone want to forecast other first names in that 2024 premiership team (apart from the Jesse/Jack/Angus/Christian(s)/etc senior leadership)?
  17. Umm...they sort of do? (see them drinking - looks like they're getting ready to tunnel ball!)
  18. Can anyone confirm this? I'd like to go, but the trip needs certainty!. Not evident on the club's site. (Ditto the women's game. If you haven't seen one, I recommend!)
  19. Sincere apologies: It was Energy Watch I was trying to think of. When I couldn't, Kaspersky came to mind, because I remember my "who are THEY?" reaction, me being on the computer-illiteracy spectrum (it was a great story how it came about though, I remember). My question still stands, though: does anyone know anything more about Greenwood?
  20. I'm going to be a bit wet-blanketish here and ask if anyone knows anything about the credentials of 'Greenwood Capital'. I'll be happy to hear good news. It's just that I think we've experienced the odd 'short term' (shall we say) sponsor before (Kaspersky anyone?) Mr Google tells me about a 'Greenwood Capital' from (I think) the US and a 'Greenwoods Capital' based in China, and 'Greenwood Capital Burwood' only brings up the MFC web page article. I also wonder to what extent "an investment company ... featuring a diverse portfolio including property, health centres, Australian food exports, and cultural exchange" will engage us with the 'Chinese community? I hope they can, and I'm not complaining about the income either (though: How much? What form?) Nor am I complaining about the strides that Peter J and his team continue to make. And I like the Chinese New Year association and activities (will definitely try to be there - I'm a child of the fireworks-for-all age!) I just don't want any egg on anyone's faces with this.
  21. The night grand final that year (my "I can't stop watching...") was a precursor to the events at the end of the year. I saw it interstate (maybe it wasn't broadcast in Melbourne?) Buzzed! I did not get to sleep that night!
  22. Sorry if this has been raised/asked before in this looooong thread (or the other JM thread), but which of our rookies do we think will be the elevated to replace JM? The chosen player will, to some extent (maybe substantially?), offset or compensate for the lost year of JM's services. Another possible 'offset' to the damage for us, by the way, is what might be unfolding for how Essendon can accommodate its additional players in their salary cap: that is, I suspect, that there will be an AFL-proposed/endorsed arrangement that the suspended players, because they are not 'playing', will become outside the player salary cap (though maybe not the 'taxable' football department spend). So JM would go outside our cap, if that is relevant to the rookie, or for some other reason.
  23. I hope any of you that have been to the brilliant games so far, as I have, will agree with me that MFC has to have a women's team and it has to be part of the fabric of the club. As such, Demonland 'as is' would cover it, for its highs and lows, goods and bads, likes and dislikes - the same as, for example, Casey (or a future standalone or Ressies or whatever) is or would be included. Personally I'm looking forward to an MFC womens team in 2017 doing what the Melbourne City women are doing right now! Silverware!
  24. Thanks Jack! But remind us; how on earth did you become a Melbourne supporter?! (I suspect a strong-minded mother!)
