That's footy nous and team orientation that he possibly hasn't got yet (assuming he's being coached in it). He seems still to be the young 'I-can-do-it-all' type (with some justification, mind!) His lookaway handball in the last, which was turned over and led to a goal, highlighted this for me.

Post game discussion - Round 10
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to Moonshadow's topic in Melbourne Demons
It appeared very deliberate, aimed at the Melbourne player harrassing him from behind, and Garland came in from behind and collected it. Any reference in the media to it being referred? -

To the Geriatricity Ladder, please, Iv'a (@T$/B$) ('Tis the Coterie in the making? Clink!) -

On this basis, o Old One, I think the Wise One should join us on the Geriatricity Ladder over on T$/B$? And, by name, so too should you, deeoldfart (Are we there yet? Please, no!) And on another theme herein, isn't it a great sign of our progress that we're again contemplating single malts instead of cheap reds, or worse. There was a similar - and quickly scotched () - contemplation about this time last year. No more false dawns, I say! -
How's the insanity...

A few references here to past events possibly making his teammates a bit gun-shy. Are there any of those left?

Thanks d+ for clarifying your results. Ladder updated accordingly (and I'm happy to be 'bumped'!): 1. daisycutter 68 2. old dee 67 3. dpositive 64 4. Timothy Reddan A’Blew 61 5. Beelzebub 56 6. bjDEE 54 7. Red and Bluebeard LII BBO, your number is impressive, whatever it applies to. On the trend towards plausibility, though - from age, through IQ - I'm pondering the truth: girth? But, on the strength of it, the Number 2 Ticket Holder in our little old league is yours. Hemingway, though only 116, is deceased - and famous - so he holds Number 1, posthumously.

With his brother now on the list, and the way they have both shared this outcome with the club's media, do we really think he is, or would be, playing the Scully/Frawley game??? His up-and-downness is a separate question, I think. He was showing these tendencies even when he last re-signed, amid some fanfare about his (then) 'long term' commitment?

Angus Brayshaw's concussions
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to Travis Boots's topic in Melbourne Demons
1. Best wishes, Gus. 2. Mach5, on Monday: Not good enough, really, Macha, for this fairly solemn issue. 3. Samael, earlier today: Sad story; hopefully the kid did eventually wake up? Regarding "completely independent medical assessments", I think this is actually one area that the clubs can actually be trusted; the approach now known to have been taken with Gus being demonstration. 4. Biffen, a little while later: Too soon, Biff? (literally and metaphorically) 5. Does "extended period" = "long term" and, if so, who's next on the rookie waiting list? -
Dammit, that's actually a very good point! I had a good high dudgeon going about the under-ducking, but you've toppled me dc. However, on a separate well-covered beef on this thread - the throwndball - I think we can all still have a dudgeon of very-well-founded height. Two angles of inquiry: 1. Has there been any media discussion of this, either arising from the very noticeable application of the technique on Sunday or earlier; and 2. Is there anyone here on 'Land who can find examples and slomo them and post them?

So... 20,000 safely passed (with some ceremony, I was chuffed to see!), here's the Geriatricity Ladder. Representing only 6 results in, so far, plus one score to be clarified - dpositive, in referring only to "pensioner" status - we're still about a dozen match reports from a proper 18-team ladder. C'mon, folks, put on your reading glasses, force those arthritic digits to the keyboard and claim your spot. And there's room for a Second (or will it be Fiftieth?) Division. Congratulations, daisycutter, undefeated* - so far - atop the ladder. And we're not talking Finals yet, of course ('cos they really are final!); it's just one year at a time. 1. daisycutter 68 2. old dee 67 3. Timothy Reddan A’Blew 61 4. Beelzebub 56 5. bjDEE 54 6. Red and Bluebeard LII * So worldly-wise, I suspect Hemingway to be a contender. However, as a deceased person, he is - by definition - defeated, thus disqualified? (I tried to find out from your profile, Ernest, but could not access your headstone for birth date details)

Is it just me (and I'm predicting the answer!) but, Is it a bit dodgy that the AFL is operating a Brownlow predictor? They are somewhat conflicted, given their employees are the vote-givers, who may feel compromised or constrained in doing that job. But well done Jack and Max of course. What are the Dangerfield/Gawn/Viney trifecta odds, anyone?

Demonland Banner Missing Someone....
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to GoodAsGawn's topic in Melbourne Demons
That beard-shaped space between the Vs is perfect -
No wonder Jimmy was wearing a hat. It looks like he's stumbled in on the Boxing Day Test. And got in the way of the umpire on his way to the wicket.

Are there any Dees fans who are teachers?
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to MrBurns's topic in General Discussion
Do I detect a number of, shall we say, 'elderly' 'Landers in this thread? If you have memories of '55 to '64, please go over to the No T$ No B$ thread and register for the upcoming geriatricity ladder. -
Pedersen's contributions now seem regularly to be in the ballpark of what Dawes contributed in the 2010 grand final win (mark that as you will, but it wasn't bad!), while the latter seems to have retreated quite a bit from that, at least in his pure football contribution. And re DD's post, Nev Jetta also says hi, as do a fair number of former rookies in that period. But Cam's resurrection after the labelling out of that ducking incident is certainly heartwarming.

How much football have Demonland members played?
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to Nasher's topic in Melbourne Demons
Is there anyone out there in Demonland that could turn this thread into some sort of book? Many great stories and much disarming honesty and not a small amount of chuckles here. And thanks for the Polly Farmer / Tarax reminder. Memories re-awakened! -
Welcome (a bit belatedly), DP. Your views about, and hopes for, our 'main (coach) man' are well shared here, I reckon. But I'm just trying to work out if you have any 'main (player) men' ideas? (or are you just a Russian oligarch - and, if so, please put some no-strings-attached $$$ into our club, or at least into Demonland)

WOW! (sorry, all, I haven't left the day yet...) Ellipsis I recognised as a word; but aposiopesis? NO WAY! Of course, my Mammoth Macquarie confirms it. Thanks for the ellipsis advice - I had been negligent in this regard. And, now; it may be wise if you and I draw down the curtain on this erudition. Our Demonland colleague natives will be getting restless (= pizzed)

Skuit, I AM IMPRESSED! I used them in my own post (and often do in my 'job') but never knew they had a name. And you are onto something there, definitely. I leave this day a wholer person...* (* These hanging points have a different name?? DK may also have 'spoken' the points, too, here - the 'pregnant pause'?)
-
...but I'll continue it anyway! More than just getting it on the record, I think the bidding on academy players was also to keep the clubs intending to take them honest i.e. making them take them at the highest point in the draft. And you could see the bidders smile at the 'farce' of it each time it happened.

Very good get DA - it sure does! The complete relevant excerpt: "...Kent wants to secure his future in Melbourne beyond 2016. “I want to play some good footy and get my name out there (i.e., in context of bolded sentence, in (= at) Melbourne). Obviously, I’d love to stay at the Dees for as long as I can. I’m out of contract so there’s no pressure on me to perform or anything like that, but it’s in the back of my head and you think about your contract"...". Still not sure about that last sentence - possibly a misspoke as supposed earlier. It's not like he isn't performing!! Possibly he meant that if he hasn't given good reason for a new contract already, this year won't add much?

Who is likely to move into Goodwin's seat at years end?
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to SPC98's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ready, aim, fire: Childhood Dees supporter Chris "I'm Baaack!" Judd (ref FC tonight). Maybe not Goodwin's chair, but one of the footstools? -
Oh to have had only a 20-year lifetime of Dees support! Anyway, like Daisy above, I was taken by his performance in the Docklands-hoodoo-break last year, in terms both of what he did and the confidence he expressed in doing it, particularly in the air. What is the record for nominees from one team in a year (and if it's GWS, what is second best)?
