of course Biff, my comments were of course tongue in cheek. i know that you need sustenance and support given the perilous position of the Gat. but you reach a point in your life where you need to learn moderation in all things and seek nourishment of the soul.

Makes my past excessive behaviour seem well what can I say.....not excessive. I feel there is a touch of unreality creeping into your life Biff. A lengthy period in rehab is beckoning.

interesting yes, eccentric yes, diverse yes, perverse yes, off beat yes, sicko yes, cerebral....at times, enlightened....I will have to think about that...,,

The talk of bans, moderators (how Orwellian is that), political correctness, fake news and Donald Trump has given me cause to rise from my slumber and re-engage with the world, in particular, this thread. You realise Biff that my posts or lack thereof are mood related. But Trump, Turnbull and Bernardi have got me going.

Perhaps but that is the nature of all sports as we know. You need more than talent to make it. I think Viney is a good comparison. His major attribute is attitude and a fierce determination to succeed. I do find it hard to judge some of our young recruits during this period when the club was floundering and the words professionalism and development were not part of the clubs lexicon.

Now that's like asking what books of fiction have you read or what reality TV programs have you watched. I know the likes of Biff and BBO may try to tell you otherwise but Picket I think the question is clearly in jest.

Diametrically opposite view Redleg on AFL. However, I understand your view point, For me, it can depend on the sport. I retain a strong interest in Women's Olympic Sports. However, I am not very interested in Women's Road Cycling compared to the men. Cricket similarly. However, I suspect that if I had a daughter or daughters that were top sportswomen I would follow that sport with great interest. Perhaps attitudes can depend on the culture and history of a sport together with the marketing or lack of. Bullfighting comes to mind! However, the AFL women's comp has definitely got me interested as I think their skills are terrific. Also a women's comp just seems the right thing to do given their involvement in the sport particularly as spectators since the early games played in Yarra Park.

Okay Biff, lets call it quits, your all over the shop.

I once believed in The Importance of Being Ernest, however sadly, those days have long passed so that is why I visit this site in my idle moments which seem to last most of the day. Your erudite comments always bring me back to reality after reading the imaginative rambling of others.

You should know Red that I have only one vice. One that is either distilled or bought across a cosy bar or inn.

Never fail to disappoint Biffo, however like the skilled matadors I admired so much in a previous life, I will let the bull charge past my cloak of irony headlong into the picadors sword. Your itchy fingers do get the better of you sometimes and diminishes your intelligence and occasional wit.

It would be an interesting social experiment to ban this thread. Even say, a freeze on the thread for a month. May cause an implosion of some iphones and lap taps around the country.
  13. Ego and lack of insight are the key words.

Very subtle old chap, I was going to refer to you in future as Cutter rather than Daisy.

You are a humble decent man or a con but I will give you the benefit of the doubt.

Daisy, I assume that your new years resolutions did not include to behave more politely.

No Moon, not when it is 38 degrees heading to 40. On days like today, keeping up the fluids is important and in the interests of good health.

Biff, with the greatest respect it is always a bit of a worry to hear about single middle aged men going to the fleshpots. Well we have heard about save the children but to add some decency to this thread, save the locals. And as a decent man, you will pay appropriate wages or tips not slave labour cash transactions like so many exploitive corporations worshipped by those seduced by the capitalists. Or those middle aged men that are seeking nourishment of their material desires rather than nourishment of the soul. There is no price to be paid for nourishment of the soul.

I think the difference may be that Rome is the home of classical antiquity and as all Demon fans would know is actually called Roma in Latin. Suspect that Romsey will never be known as the eternal city or be regarded as one of the birthplaces of Western civilisation, let alone attract tourists other than poor unfortunates that find themselves off the beaten track by listening to Siri. God help them if they find a hand painted sign post to Romsey manor. They will find a bed but not one for rest. Having said that I had forgotten that The Vatican City is also located in Roma and currently is the residence of Georgie Porgy Pell. By comparison Uncle and Romsey Manor may be a better place for an overnight stay.

i am glad you have contentment at Romsey Uncle but how do the local community feel? Although I suppose your needs are very specific and the local yokels are quite suitable. My guess is that it's very much a case of Stockholm Syndrome. I think Snowtown also sounds quite pleasant. Or even Wantirna!
  21. hemingway replied to Redleg's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes there are ghettos of decency where people care and there is a strong sense of community.

Agree , most over rated city in the world. All marketing and spin. Heading all one way. Down. Have been living away this year and you suddenly realise that Melbourne is becoming unaffordable and unliveable with the city ruled by developers, corrupt politicians and local councils and a dog eat dog mentality amongst the mob. Exciting city, no, dysfunctional, yes. It is becoming a city with no kindness or heart. It is a city losing its soul. It is a city dictated by real estate, how to make a quick buck, poverty and desperation. Sorry, it has good coffee and food. As If we need more coffee and food. The only redeeming feature is the MFC. And this web site.
  23. Sums my view as well. We took a coach and two players who were in it up to their eyeballs. And we nearly had Dank associated with the club. So we need to be careful talking about principles and damning the players and the EFC. We had an opportunity to take a principled stand but fell at the hurdle and decided to take an expedient or practical decision. We have got a good coach and two good players but at the expense of principle (my view). Our club position is a disappointment to me, but time to move on.
  24. But WJ he is completely mad.

Bent but Optimistic, you can avoid reading altogether by dipping into the Kama Sutra if you are looking for imaginative poses and still find comfort in knowing that you are looking at a classic piece of Hindu literature that preaches pleasure and spirituality. You seem to have a lot of the former but need a dose of the latter. Or in other words, you have Kama (Desire) but desperately need Moksha (Liberation), Your days are running out.
