  1. Just a general belief. There are exceptions to everything. Not about to start having a D&M. But no, taxpayers funded the car industry for way too long.
  2. Free market works best. It's not up to government and taxpayers to make an industry work.
  3. We went "away from it" because we couldn't compete with Asia and the demand for locally produced cars wasn't there. It was ridiculous that the car industry was subsidised by taxpayers for so long.
  4. The reason there are so many posts is because every time someone like me says he's not AFL ready someone like you goes off their nana. Rinse and repeat. Those supportive of his place in the team are just as culpable for the thread going so long. You just have a different message.
  5. Yes, then there's you.
  6. It's funny though how supporters can shift their argument to suit their preferred narrative. Plenty are backing the club with McDonald's selection and lauding the fact that we're "getting games into him". If he wasn't being selected and others were complaining that he was languishing at Casey I suspect those same people would be saying that "Casey is the best place for him to be developed rather than being thrown to the wolves". "How is that going to fast track his development ?" See, it's easy. Some people can't lose.
  7. Peter ?
  8. Oscar McDonald is one of the least ready AFL key defenders I've ever seen. I understand they're getting games into him, but why posters on here would be critical of those that question this decision is beyond belief. I'm all for playing young players and always have been, but McDonald is so far off one must question the decision. That said, we're not playing finals and looking towards the bigger picture, so my care factor isn't huge. One McDonald is enough to give you an ulcer. I'm struggling with two.
  9. Ask any Pies fan and they'll tell you that Kennedy virtually always starred at VFL level. Finding consistency and a position at AFL level has been more of a challenge. That said, he's had some quality games this year for the Dees and will no doubt get a reprieve.
  10. I've seen him at Casey live this year and he looked to have a bit more zip than yesterday. I'll reserve judgment for a few weeks.
  11. Excellent op Mr Bin. Jack's preseason form has carried through. There's well and truly enough evidence to conclude that he's turned the corner. He competes far better than he ever has. He's had the odd lapse, but in the main the effort has been great. He faded in the second half today, but had a crack in the wet and really impacted the game, which was another box ticked. He's really progressed and must be enjoying his footy. The scrutiny on him would have broken lesser individuals. It's testament to his character that he's now well on the way to finishing his career at the Dees. I'll admit that he'll never be perfect in my eyes, but he's reached a level that I'd stopped thinking he was capable of. How good would it be if he could crack 50 goals for the year ? That really would silence his many critics. I hasten to add that 40 will do ! Well done Jack. Keep going. My new avatar will be uploaded in the morning.
  12. Glad he's stepped up and vindicated me. He's still not playing as consistently as I'd like, but he's embarrassed everyone that has accepted his rubbish for years. I said I wanted 40 goals in 2016 and he's well on the way to doing it. I knew it was in him, which is why I set that particular benchmark. I look forward to my new sig.
  13. He is incredibly slow. I don't think I can cope with 2 McDonalds for the next 7-8 years.
  14. I'm shocked, but rapt. Great game Jackie boy. Keep it going !
  15. Watts is horrible in these conditions. Expect him to be "worst on ground" today.
  16. I feel like I have to spoon feed you. I know why Dunn is out of the team, but notwithstanding the fact he hasn't played within team defence structures as well as the coaching staff would have liked he's still a mile ahead of McDonald, who is spectacularly out of his depth. Imo Dunn or Pedersen would provide a better key defence option than McDonald. It goes without saying that Goodwin disagrees. Enjoy the footy. Perhaps it would be better not to pick a fight while you're there.
  17. It was mentioned pre-season that Dunn was out of favour with Goodwin. There's a reason he wasn't selected in round one. He's not being selected because he's not adhering to team defence structures. It's got nothing to do with a GF in mind, just the best "team" as they see it. Do some research, Chuckles.
  18. You are an incredibly intelligent human being to deduce that there is no grand final tomorrow. We're all wiser for your presence.
  19. This is an excellent post and summation. It explains McDonald's selection and is the only logical conclusion.
  20. Technically a sentence needs a predicate and is more than one word. "Almost." is not a sentence. I'll overlook it on this occasion.
  21. "Of course you'd choose Dunn I that scenario but it's not the case." So "of course" you'd choose Dunn to play in a GF tomorrow, but because it's not a GF, ergo not as important, you're happy with McDonald. What part am I missing ?
  22. As I said, "I understand the development angle" and don't assume I rate either Dunn or Garland, as I don't. When a guy is clearly out of his depth I don't understand how he benefits from being exposed like he is. Also, your answer to my question assumes this match isn't a must win. That doesn't resonate well with me.
  23. I understand the development angle, but when a player is so obviously out of his depth and weak in contests it raises questions as to whether selecting him is a hindrance more than a help. If you were selecting the team for a grand final being held tomorrow, who would you select, Dunn or O. McDonald ? For me the answer is clear. If it was a close decision I'd happily select the young developing player, but I don't see it that way. Oscar looks a mile off. For that reason I don't understand why Dunn or even Pedersen wasn't chosen.
  24. I understand the point you're making, but Ross Lyon and Sheedy were good players. Not stars, but good.
  25. I'm surprised they didn't show the Chris Mew back/bump. Having read the thread this may seem a little controversial. I never thought Grinter was overly tough. He hit a lot of blokes (fine by me), but I never thought he was overly hard at the footy. But there you go. Plenty will disagree.
