We'd be lucky to get a Morton for Dawes
-
Why a sook, I would hope he was disgruntled. That's the attitude that impresses me
Someone who doesn't complain but instead works harder would be much more impressive

Excited for the lad. Right from draft day where I was pumped we got ourselves a steal at pick 40 considering the Saints were tipped to pick him at pick 20 for a while.
All the best Nibbler!
Was a bit annoyed when he got rid of pick 23 but then to get a player who was imo pick 23 quality anyway in ANB, as well as Oscar Mac was just great

Decimated by injuries but we've dropped a mature kid in Newton. As far as I know he isn't injured. I don't think it's the right call to play ANB quite yet.
Unlike Brayshaw, ANB didn't have a pre-season, has had issues with his knee, and still needs conditioning.
IMO it is a bad call. Of course, I will be much happier to be wrong on this one.
How could it be a bad call? What do you think is going to happen to him out there?
Worst case scenario, he gets subbed off in the 3rd and comes out of it with an understanding of what is required to play in the AFL

100% I would take Aish and I know everyone in this thread would
It all depends on the asking price

I'd forgotten about him. Would be a great upgrade on Rohan Bail
Yep - Which is what we should be aiming for instead of trying to find some sort of fairytale deal
-
What about Craig Bird? Not getting a game at Sydney at the moment but has shown in the past that he can be very valuable in that run-with role. Obviously he won't be that 'star' player that we are still crying out for but we also need guys who are capable and able to lead our younger players while they are still developing .

Even allowing for his straight kicking we could have won this game if we did not make all those bloody poor mistakes.
Without Two terrible passes in front of goal and the tunnel ball and there is then a goal in it.
Anything is possible but sadly we played poorly on those occasions and there goes the game.
Real insightful OD. "Don't make mistakes". Perfect.

so how did he have a bad game?. He was the reason we got up and running after a crap start.
How many of his disposals were actually useful? How many times did he release someone on the outside, or kick it to the advantage of someone ahead? I'd love to see his metres gained - I'd be tipping it wouldn't be that much considering the amount of possessions he had.
Don't think he was the reason we got up and running at all. That was very much due to Vince and Jones

Fair to say Lumumba had a poor game. Got a fair bit of the ball by his standards which turned out to be a bad thing. Credit to him though, rarely did it hurt us. Don't think he got caught once
-
I do love him, but Gawn doesn't have a tank and was really exposed by Grundy I thought - Will probably get another chance though just for Roos to confirm that we really are [censored] in the ruck department
For those who want Fitzy out? Why? I didn't even notice him up until his error in the goal square. Because Jesse White had done absolutely nothing for the whole game! He will stay in the side I think
Out: Jones, vandenBerg
In: Tyson, ANB

Was a legend at the doggies and quickly becoming one at the dees
Has been invaluable this year and the last

Changes?
When the opposition has a loose man in defence, start manning him the [censored] up

A good read on Christian Petracca from Ben Guthrie. (Despite the editors spelling Petracca's name wrongly in the title.) Robbie Gray sounds like a great bloke.

That's great to hear
Having a mentor like Robbie Gray would be invaluable

I want to see Viney take on Pendlebury. Would be great to see him cop some rough footy for once
Pendles still struggling with an ankle so he'll probably be spending a fair bit of time forward
I can see Viney going to Sidebottom

Wonder what Jack Dyer would say about the man bun. They seem to be a contagion.
He is getting rid of it for charity I think so can't say too much about it

This just gets better and better

I haven't said anything about 186.
We lost to Adelaide by the way, and yes it is "exciting" not knowing if the team will bother trying or not on any given week...
I was initially responding to SWYL, who did mention 186, before you jumped in - I'm assuming, to try and prove his point?
And we may have lost to Adelaide, but they were coming into the game with some strong form, and we showed some spirit and never dropped our heads. I never expected to beat them, but they came close and it was a game worth watching.
I don't see what being inconsistent has to do with this? I'm arguing that we've shown improvement this year - i.e. We are no longer a bottom 2 side. Which I think our wins so far have shown
-
What about the game against GWS? Or the one against Hawthorn? Fremantle?
What about against Richmond? Gold Coast? Adelaide?
Yes we were pathetic on the weekend. Insipid even. But we have played exciting footy this year. Something I haven't seen from Melbourne in a long time. Using the fact that we lost by 186 points one time as a reason to never be comprehensively beaten again is just silly.
-
I disagree.
You cannot say we have improved 100% onfield when 5 years after 186 we are allowing sides to still kick 16 goals to 2 against us.
This is why the MFC is where it is & other clubs can bottom out and win a flag in 5 years
We haven't moved and that is the reality.
You can say we've improved when you look at our win against the Doggies. You can't just pick and choose games to suit your point.

He had no player on Ebert....
Lumumba seemed to be playing on him early
Who knows what happened after that
I know Lumumba didn't get a touch in the last qtr
-
That might well have been the worst game of football I ever watched
GWS game last year takes the cake for me

Sandilands vs adelaide
Broke Dempsey's record I think
