  1. Win footy games.

That is what I would say to anyone from the club who is thinking along the same lines as Bartlett here.

That story just had a mish-mash of different image devices that don't do anything bar scratch the surface of our issues; no region to call our own, a dwindling and aging supporter base, and, up to two months ago, a terrible outlook for the foreseeable future.

The emblem is a distraction. If you are going to change it, do it, don't talk about how it signifies a change in anything other than the letterhead on press releases.

The song featuring the word 'Melbourne' is such an interesting aside but any money and time spent on this in our current predicament is bordering on insane. Let Demonland start a thread and work the word in - save you a few hundred thousand dollars...

The desire for a presence in Collins St brings a word to bear - why? Hardly anyone lives there. I won't discuss this any further as 'presence' could mean anything from where he wants the boardroom to where he wants a billboard...

The statement that Casey 'is not our heartland' is ironic, well it would be if it weren't so sad, we have no heartland - that's the point; we grew out of a stadium. We have shed so many supporters in the last 49 years. We have no 'heartland.' We are trying to build one out east. If we are not going to bother with Casey anymore the players will be happy they don't have to trek out there but they better have a bloody good business case.

    Nothing in that impressed me.

Winning footy games will impress me, and it might impress a few others - if you really want to be the New York Yankees - you better win.

The Yankees are 31-30 for the season so far which is average however they're the most profitable by far.

  2. I would like to see him play a senior game this season, he put his body on the line and does the 1%ers.

I can't think if a player he should replace though.

Agreed. I can't think of who he would replace.

  3. Did you read the article that was posted, Ethan?

I was mostly referring to the idea that 'a smooth sea never made a skilful sailor' and that if you come through the tough times, you'll be a stronger person for it. These experiences galvanise a person.

And I wasn't saying he had a philosophy on upbringing. I was saying that I come from a broken home too, so I guess I can relate to some of his experiences. But, now that you mention it, I admire and share his view on raising children - putting children before relationship rubbish. I have close to zero respect for those parents whose immaturity is so great that they can't help but slagging off their ex in front of their children. Those people shouldn't be parents.

    Very illuminating article.

    Thanks for the run down.

I was simply asking a question as I had no insight and hadn't had time to read the article.

You appeared somewhat defensive, no need to be, I was sincere in my question.

  4. I have a similar philosophy on life and similar upbringing, so it's great to see him work hard and reap the rewards. Good on you, Lynden.

I've rarely seen him interviewed or quoted.

What's his philosophy on life and upbringing? I'm asking seriously and not being a smart ass.

  5. I'm wondering who was the one who said all this 'you won't be here after next year' stuff to him.

I get it's done good things for him, and motivated him but surely that's not the right way to go about it. I'd be absolutely shocked if that was Paul Roos' approach to the situation! Roosy seems far more of a 'break your game into little areas and work on these ones, but these ones are okay so get the bad ones right and you can have a good 2014'.

If in fact that was Neil Craig and the old footy department, it doesn't surprise me how out of touch they were.

It would be hard to roll into pre-season if the coach had that attitude about you.

You do realise Pedeson is an adult and not a child. You're idea sounds like something you may say to a juvenile.

It's simple, honest and more importantly, it worked.

  6. He said he was 26, I thought he was older. If he was worried about the pay check could not MFC broker a deal where we pay him a minimum retainer for even the next two years until he gets his mind and body in the right place. I know it would be a non playing member of the list but it would be worth the investment I think.

Such a loss it really gets me but that said you could tell in the interview he has been in a bad place and still has some work to do!

    Wowzers...where to start.
