  1. Too easy haha
  2. And on the AA selection. Maximus Decimus Gawnicus? He's the best the ruck in the game. Does a club trying something override the best position player overall stop the nod?
  3. Anyone think Jack Viney is a cheeky chance of at least the AA squad?
  4. I'm a local and hate Bellerive Oval. Saw Gilchrist's 172 against Zimbabwe about 20 years ago. Chris Gayle knocking stuff out of the ground (or at least on the roof of the stands). Tassie winning the Shield. Okay for cricket. Terrible for AFL tho, rug up even if the forecast is decent weather. The wind is chilly fresh and doesn't help for a good game of football.
  5. That's the frustrating thing to me. We did it in pre-season (yeah I know) and looked a million bucks.
  6. Early in the 4th I was just thinking about Milkshake's game and could only think what a Jekyll and Hyde performance. Then... oh golly gosh. Now I'm thinking.... Gandalf vs the Balrog Ironman/Captain America against Thanos. Rand Al' Thor against the Dark One. The Emperor of Mankind v Horus Lupercal Sorry, getting my nerd on. That was epic and I'm so happy for him. [censored] immense.
  7. A historic win by St. Kilda
  8. Bleedin' gondalas, there is a bit to be worried about right now. There was something said in either the first or second quarter by one of the commentators on Fox who said that we didn't have connection and relied to heavily individual efforts (the skill of the players). Now, what I'm about to say is after a couple of beers, but I don't neccessarily disagree with him but thought it might be interesting to rather than go we are d00med break it out into the three things I think are most important adding something they didn't (again, beers) with the first one being most important (IMO). 1. System. 2. Connection 3. Quality of Players Starting from the bottom of the above (to be confusing). 1. We obviously have the quality, we all see the bursts. Except maybe the forward line where we can't seem to take a contested mark right now to save ourselves. 2. Connection is a huge problem (leads into point 3). 3. System. It's not looking like it works, and when it does it's because of 1 and 2 (even against bad sides). In conclusion (haha), it's not feeling like 2021 or even 2022 (we were busted at the end), but right now we look like a middle of the road side, that will granted make finals (based on points 3 and then 1 haha) but not do too much. Anyhoo, I'm not even convinced what I'm saying is right, but to an outside numpty this doesn't feel like a good trajectory.
  9. Will be interested to see how Langdon goes today without Hunter.
  10. Our midfield are all sizzle no steak at the moment. When teams have a bit of momentum, why aren't we doing the 'Ol Nathan Jones and getting head over the ball and getting a few repeat stoppages in the middle. Slow the game down a bit from time to time, we know we have the class to eventually get value. Port made it look really easy tonight.
  11. Yep, the midfield rotations are a thing. Hopefully keep us fit and firing at the pointy end.
  12. Had a look over at Big Footy as well as some of the comments here. Lots of conflation going on in my view. There is the process & what happened. They aren't the same thing.
  13. Would probably look pretty much like this alas
  14. Honest question. Is there another avenue of appeal now? GCS took a precaution with their player (absolutely fair), but if anyone hits their bicep into another player high whilst trying to spoil running back towards the player = two weeks? If so can you all please crowdfund me in my new quest to play AFL for the Dees (all the profits to the Dees of course) so I can win the Brownlow next year. I won't need long, like a minute or two on ground cos nobody else will be eligible.
  15. They played well, we didn't. Bank the four points and move on. Time to move Petty back as well methinks.
  16. I thought he went alright, or at least the equivalent of Petty in the forward line. Whoever we have as talls in the forward line need to be making more of an impact in the first half of games however. I love Roo already and he's gonna be a player, but having a tall threatening early in the game makes it easier on the rest of the forward line. Goodwin is obviously trying stuff in the forward line to find the best mix, and while our smalls, mediums and midfield are getting the job done we're fine. I still think we'll see BBB or T Mac toward the back half of the year a lot more, we need a big tall down there, despite what Max (and now looking like Grundy) are capable of.
  17. Well that was yuck. My nearly two year old was very demonstrative that her play dough biskies were more interesting than watching the game. In the third quarter I bowed to her superior judgement and turned it off. I then had to try the biskies and I feel like I'm probably ahead. We missed Lever so much, and I can't wait for Max to get back. Other than the run in the 2nd, we looked like the boring old demons of 2nd half of last year, wouldn't lose by much, would beat the lower teams but we all knew something was up. Really sick of players not looking inward in the forward half too with Oliver working into space and screaming for the ball. He wants to take his game to another level, the other players need to help him there. It's only early but, our run isn't too bad, just keep building and keep in striking distance of the top four and not risk our players and get them peachy keen for the back half is my optmistic take.
  18. I'm not sold on it right now, he was okay and glad he kicked a snag. What I am sold on is Goodwin trying new things. We have an unbelievably talented list now and we need to cash in, so instead of the down the line plays and being really risk averse I'm glad it looks like we are trying to be proactive and use our talent offensively (maybe a better word is "naturally") rather than the "they will be better one on one" mindset. Which honestly last year (albeit with our players being cooked/injured) did keep us in games but was a waste.
  19. Yep, he might not get heaps of disposals, but his pressure work is great. Plus he has a deft touch that leads to goals (and an ability to kick some of his own). No way he is dropped next week when Kozzie comes back.
  20. I love this club.
  21. I know there were a lot of names tonight. But holy dog, Lever is something else. Plays bigger than his frame suggests, fends off, gets to the right spot and has a really big kick. What a player.
  22. Are we there yet?
