The Age is reporting https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-06-18/wa-aged-care-nurses-threaten-to-quit-over-mandatory-covid-jab/100226312 almost one third of nurses working in WA aged care would rather quit than be forced to have a vaccine. It also says that this may be different since the change of ages and accessibility to Pfizer.

Sorry Super I should have said eventually getting mRNA's as their adaptability for future variants is superior.

Thought I would quote myself. My guess is because the government knows more than they are telling us. We will all be getting mRNA's

Canada has banned 2nd doses of Astra Zeneca, recommending 2nd doses be mRNA's. Recommending mRNA's for all. Edit. Apparently based on German studies. Edit 2. Interesting reading! https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/immunization/national-advisory-committee-on-immunization-naci/recommendations-use-covid-19-vaccines/summary-statement-june-17-2021.html

Titan_uranus, exactly which countries are doing better than Australia? You may say that I am unreasonable but you fail to recognise that there is a waiting list for immunisation. The reality is if I choose to be immunised asap (currently a 2 week wait if stocks available) I push others that want to be immunised back. So how is that unreasonable? As for medical advice, I have stated that opinions are mixed.

Can anyone explain to me the logic behind the Australian government ordering 65 million doses of mRNA's? Keep in mind each dose is approximately ten times the price of Astra Zeneca

That was not my point. We should do our best to reach herd immunity, that is easier with the mRNA's. It may infact be impossible with Astra Zeneca at less than 90% take up. By the end of this year we will have taken delivery of 50 million doses of mRNA's. That covers the entire Australian population. There is a logistical problem delivering doses, some people will be last immunised regardless of desire. I choose to wait, others can go before me. The day they announce the over 60's can have Pfizer or Moderna I will book in. I will not be last, nor will I slow down herd immunity. Edit. I do not advocate that others do as I do, I simply state my intention. Research, read analyse ask questions but make up your own mind. I would never tell anyone to take or avoid any medication. Why should any government tell me which vaccine I can have now, knowing that that will change in time.

I know some medical professionals that share my view, and some that don't.

All good points LDVC. I suppose my point is that the vaccine I have should be my choice not the Government's. And I do want to have a vaccination.
  10. ManDee replied to Demonland's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't fear vaccination, but I choose the better vaccine. Edit. Current data also shows you are more likely to die from Astra Zeneca than Covid 19. That is a tongue in cheek dig at statistics.

Daisy, there are better alternatives than Astra Zeneca. Moderna and Pfizer are not killing people and provide greater protection 94.1 & 95% respectively. We should donate all our Astra Zeneca to Covax and use the mRna's exclusively. Everyone will be getting them in the future anyway considering we have 50 million doses ordered or supplied already for this year plus another 15 million Moderna gen2 ordered for first quarter next year. Edit. Context is important. If we were living in Brazil or India I would be advocating for Astra Zeneca. I live in regional Australia, no locally acquired cases ever. I will wait for mRna. If we have some local cases watch me jump ship.

1.I live in Australia 2. Many borders are closed. 3. The UK has one of the highest immunisation rates in the world and are extending their lockdown. So your point is? Edit. I am pro vaccine, I see no point in Astra Zeneca when alternatives are better.

An interesting fact. No Australians have died from Covid19 this year, two have died from Astra Zeneca.

  18. I did posit 4 questions. However in reference to set up. Melbourne supporters see racism amongst supporters at their games, according to survey. Melbourne supporters deny racism amongst supporters at their games according to survey. Have all clubs been surveyed? I shall maintain my scepticism.
  19. Older Australians have to have the 2nd grade AZ vaccine. As a younger Australian you can have the premium. AZ has a longer wait between doses.
  20. I would like to know why ask us? Have all clubs been asked the same questions? Have other sports been surveyed? Are we being set up? Okay call me a suspicious sceptic. I will abstain.
  21. I count 10 question marks. I demand a recount!

Bob you talk about odds as if they are based in fact. They are are simply the number of dollars that guess an outcome. They are not factual, logically over time due to their nature (losers run out of money and a side that normally wins normally wins)they are more accurate than a dart board. One chance in four does not mean you will win one in four. I know you know this, but your language suggests odds as fact. Yes I would rather be the favourite but as we know it is not a guarantee.
  23. This year we are like a V12 engine running on 9 or 10 cylinders. Past teams have been like V8's . This team has the potential to be one of the best, win a flag or four then we will know.
