  1. Agreed, good midfielders kick goals but good full forwards don't play midfield.
  2. I think we could all agree that the team has been in a lot of ways very fragile. My guess is that Roos & co have looked to stabilise and improve us with players who can lessen the fragility (moving toward robustness/resilient then ultimately antifragile (from wiki)). Players with some inner strength maybe? Reports are that they are a tougher breed somewhat that their outgoing predecessors. Just my 2 cents. Edit: The Hawks would be antifragile, improving with stress and the disorder of the game, the grand final showed that, they just got better. We have been at times the exact opposite.
  3. I'm not so sure about that. Rumour has it that Todd Viney was one recruiter that wanted Wines. Many on here wanted Wines as well. I thought we were after him and reports prior were that Wines and Viney junior pushed each other competitively which made me think they were from the same mould so to speak and if Viney was good enough then same argument would apply to Wines. The papers reported Toump as higher and I guess we'll never really know what the actual recruiters wanted
  4. Eddie McChins would be screaming from the front page of every rag in town if the reverse had occurred
  5. If Jake is suspended for any length of time, is he still entitled to be paid? If so by whom, Dees or Dons?
  6. Something about having cab drivers in the sprint at the expense of seeing a Dees player for a few seconds really irks me with the way everything is for sale with the AFL. Sure we would have come last but with the loss of the u19s that we could once watch on GF day followed by the ressies, then the main game and then the sprint, there was always something there that showed the world the MFC did actually exist. Now what little bit of possible tiny exposure on the biggest day of the year was sold to some cabbies? Have I got it all wrong? Did the MFC refuse to participate?
  7. Well folks, you can line up to pelt me with vegetables but what I'll say here I believe to be true and will transpire, again. Once the AFL support leaves our club, the vacuum it creates will once again attract people who, whilst some will be will be football people, others will be attracted to the bright lights of the G and the social standing they feel the presidency and other positions will bring and we'll be dragged back into the crapper. Hawthorn are away from all of that but we are cursed by it!
  8. I'm more upset with the treacherous lily livered mouthpiece that turned a private joke into a public fiasco
  9. I agree with a lot of that article. Essendon aren't the only organisation to have acted poorly. Fitzpatrick is named, this is the same [censored] that let Carltank do their thing, even after reports of tanking in the media but let it slide, but Melbourne? Hang them out to dry! String the lot of them and their self congratulating, hand in pocket, self interested, conflict of interest bully boy mates club mentality. Essendon should get what's coming and so should those governing that ignored, aided and profited.
  10. Roos was brought in to fix a list Neeld helped build. Can you imagine what Neeld would do to a Roos built list? Scary!!
  11. Best they keep sucking that high cholesterol paleo goodness. mm mmm
  12. I wonder what weight or leverage can be gained from the original unsigned statements by Charters and others that were not tested in court first time around. Can they change their story now without compromising themselves against what they previously said even though the statements eventually went unsigned? Interesting maybe?
  13. I think based on our performance there is a good case for seeking a refund.
  14. Agreed, a bit like how testosterone naturally occurs too so any level is fine really ;-)
  15. So in 2001 Essendon wore arm bands in the location that injections could have taken place and stated after the fact it was in protest to the opposition of the game in which they played but they didn't tell the opposition. Sounds legit.
  16. I find it amazing that after only 2 dratfs by Roos we have won against the Cats at their home. And there are still three more drafts with Roos to go.
  17. That's both hilarious, tragic and oh so real.
  18. Poor poor Essendon. All they did was sign up for Dank's "Competitive Advantage Package" and that evil Dank colluded with a rogue pharmacist to inject them with god knows what. Ask Hird, he'll tell ya, "we don't know what they were injected with" Let's ban Dank and then we can all go back to sleep.
  19. Eddie's right. Roos would be good because the last thing Carlton need is another ex Collingwood coach. The last thing any of us need is another ex Collingwood coach!!
  20. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/sport/afl/hird-shocked-by-wada-appeal-as-bungle-names-accused-bombers/story-fnca0u4y-1227352338353 Hird shocked by WADA appeal as bungle names accused Bombers The Court of Arbitration for Sport last night breached the confidentiality provisions of the World Anti-Doping Code and angered Essendon and the AFL Players Association by publicly naming the 34 footballers accused of taking a banned substance. Edit, from same article: “Witnesses can be subpoened by CAS but if they refuse to collaborate, the CAS, like any arbitral tribunal in the world, would be obliged to seek the assistance of the competent state courts to have them testify,” CAS secretary general Matthieu Reeb told The Australian.
  21. does any decision need to be unanimous I wonder.
