The Roos philosophy: trading and list building
chook fowler replied to P-man's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have confidence that this football dept do their homework and have a plan in contrast to the last lot who seemed to just rolled the dice without thinking. -
This is not going well for Mitch. He and his manager have alienated a lot of people and lost a lot of good will. Not a great way to make a comeback with a history of depression . The spotlight will be right on him and the pressure to perform really high. If he was willing to accept a modest contract initially he would have been in a good position to demand more based on performance later.

The Roos philosophy: trading and list building

With Ryder probably going to Brisbane it leaves Leuenberger in no mans land and maybe available for a trade. If so we should be well placed to use a compensation pick. He has plenty of upside IMO. -
Does this mean Malceski is off our radar?

Purple on the Footy show said Some Gold Coast board members are unhappy with the teams performance especially the fade out when Ablett was injured. McKenna was up for a performance review and difficult questions would be asked. Seems like there is a mood for change. That's about it.

Looks like Bluey McKenna might be in trouble - another one of Micks golden boys might join Neeld and Watters on the side lines.
-
Not sure of his motives though - probably designed to take a shot at the Pies

I'll join a Doomsday cult. -
He is one you can't say hasn't been given every opportunity. Last couple of games for us were terrible.

Could add to the big questions How do we best live our lives? What constitutes a good life? I would suggest the answers don't involve supporting the Dees.

Players to target at the end of the year

Feel for Morabito - doesn't seem fair when this happens to him and other players seem to take their careers for granted e.g Sylvia -
Think Herod would make a great CEO. May cause some problems with the Father - Son drafting arrangements though.

I would be very wary of $cully in the Garden of Gethsemane.

It doesn't happen too often in sport where comebacks are a roaring success. More often than not it doesn't work out. 3 years is a long time out of footy - would think it would take a long time in the seconds to build up match fitness and harden the body. Not sure it's worth the risk especially as it looks like Clark wants significant coin. Also have to consider the natural history of major depression where it typically recurs often with a lower threshold for subsequent episodes. Personally favour asking for a decent priority pick rather than a trade - a good case could be mounted to the AFL I would of thought.
-
As I understand it the senior assistant position won't guarantee succession but would put him in the box seat if impressions are good. Would still leave the door ajar to have a crack at Clarkson when available - the dream scenario.

Would like to hear from Guru Bob down at the Temple.
-
Would rather have a good priority pick for Clark if we could get it.

Doggies - no key forwards or the Filth but options are running out. How scathing was Ross Lyon! Won't help his case. Rookie list may well be his only option and that seems right for the time out of footy and health and fitness concerns.

Possible factors the Club may be considering: 1. Misson has reported that Clarks fitness for AFL is way below par and will take more than 1 preseason to fix. 2. Major depression ( which I do believe he had/has ) is a typically recurring illness that can be controlled rather than cured and he would be at risk in the pressure cooker of AFL. 3. His motivation is mostly financial rather than a burning desire to be back playing. 4. The Club and Roos are angry at the way Clark and his manager have gone about it - not involving us until late and blind siding them with his change of heart. 5. He wants too much coin. Perhaps all things considered their attitude is on ya bike we'll take the compo thanks.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HERITIER LUMUMBA

those that protestesth too much are usually projecting their own crap onto others. -
Not really. Still can't get my head around the doing Melbourne a favour bit. Also resent our fitness staff being used. Should make his own arrangements at his own expense.

I would say GNF is right on the money again. Can't understand the doubters or those that question his motives for posting - might just be he is as angry as every other supporter and feels the truth should be known.
