  1. I think they are both poor comparisons.
  2. You're... special.
  3. Hilarious!
  4. Under-rated is Durdin. Had a relatively putrid champs, but I'd love to get him onto the list.
  5. Yeah, the bailey ladder predictor on the AFL website gives you a good idea, and I've also done a couple of permutations of iffy matches, but I think we're firmly entrenched in 16th or even 15th depending on the result of our GWS matchup. It'd take a couple of shock results to change that, and I think we've seen signs of Brisbane and St Kilda starting to shut up shop already, sending players for season ending surgery. Us too, possibly.
  6. No guarantees, but based on my conservative predictions we'll be 3rd last at worst.
  7. Agreed, but I'd expect one of the teams with a top 2 pick to select Petracca instead of Wright (the other top 2 pick being McCartin). I don't care how much they need a KPF, a decent KPP can still be acquired later on. There are plenty of them in this draft: McCartin, Wright, Durdin, Goddard, Lamb, Marchbank, Watchman. I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple.
  8. Not sure we'd get a plug in player from GC, but we might be able to on-trade one of those picks for one, and it's what I'd hope we'd do. Keep pick 3, but trade 11 or 15, in my opinion. You'd expect to get a solid return for a top 20 pick, especially considering what we spent on Vince. I'd take a pick offer to Adelaide or Essendon, as they need to replenish their youth stocks. Just need to figure out who we'd want. Lyons doesn't do it for me. It might be a good price for Tom Mitchell... I love this stuff.
  9. Nominations tend to be given to players that perform well in a side that wins. As wins are on short supply for us, it follows that we have no nominations. When there is 2 obvious choices to choose from, the nomination also tends to go to a player in a winning or more visible side. We are neither.
  10. If I was Roos, I'd be talking to Gold Coast about trading picks 4 and 24 for picks 11, 15 & 31. I'm sure GCS would like to move up in the draft and consolidate their talent, especially having to trim their list further as it shrinks, while we still need to bring in weight of numbers. Of course, this is all predicated on being able to select Stretch with our 3rd rounder, and Frawley leaving so that we'd finish with picks 3, 11, 15, 31 and Stretch.
  11. I don't think that's necessarily true. I think it's just harder to pick which ones will develop as hoped and which ones will do a Colin Sylvia. Possibly makes our pick(s) as good as pick 1, provided we select well.
  12. In previous years the Swans have had the same academy, but been able to select a player with a rookie pick, similar to Lloyd Perris last year. If anything I think the balance has been redressed somewhat, with Sydney being forced to use a first-rounder this year. If last year's hype was to be believed, although Perris is still developing, he was just as good.
  13. Hard to say. If he can't transition into the midfield properly, i.e. managing to build a tank allowing him to runs the lines and run hard both ways, then he may be stuck playing as a smaller Jack Darling. Not the worst result in the world, but not what you want from a top 5 pick. If clubs are confident he will be able to do that, I doubt we'll get a bite at the cherry. No others in the draft stand out as much as a sure thing to succeed. I'd be very worried about Wright, McCartin has an iffy kick and suffers a lot of niggles, Goddard was invisible in the champs, Durdin was disappointing most of the time, Brayshaw has nice skills but is one-paced and imo unconvincing, Lamb looks like the 2nd coming of either Jared Brennan or Jarrad Waite, Pickett only showed flashes... Not a lot standing out that don't have serious question marks over their heads.
  14. Kicking / vision has been compared to Dustin Martin. Not as good imo but should give you a bit of an idea. Above average. Very strong body, like Wines. Big thighs and arms. Attacks the footy. Powerful movement and agility in short spaces. Doesn't really run the lines though. Doesn't have the tank of Wines, but might be able to build it. If not... Very strong overhead mark. Can dunk a basketball (gives you an idea of athleticism). Was an impressive HFF last year, but shed a bit of weight and moved into the middle more this year. Looks like he could actually be an early ROK type, no cliche intended. I've seen him compared to Fyfe because of his aerial ability as a mid, which is fair.
  15. I kind of agree. None jump out at me as an "I want that one" type. Petracca does jump out at me as an "I'm the best one here" type. So if we keep the first pick, I'd want it used on Petracca, or McCartin at worst. But there are question marks over everyone on the board.
  16. Really? You hand out that prize easily. Doesn't do it for me.
  17. Ahern is getting a fair bit of love. I haven't seen it. What does he bring to the table that makes him a top 5 selection? I see Wright potentially dropping out of the top 5, and Laverde being taken earlier than expected. As for the Drafting and Trading Board, can't imagine many feeling comfortable with it being the "Chip Frawley" Board, but he will have a lot of influence shaping our recruiting period one way or another.
  18. Agree with all of that. Good summation.
  19. Matthew Panos? World beater, that one. Or Lin Jong? Yep, setting the world on fire, that kid. Which one at Sydney? Membrey? Classic tweener. Only has inflated rating due to not playing. If he was getting out on the park you'd see he's not that good. It's not hard to figure out who might scrape onto an AFL list. But saying Coniglio is not up to it just makes you look a fool.
  20. I've seen some highlights where he is THAT quick. Blistering. Beyond that, I'm not sold.
  21. If Chip leaves and we don't trade, I'm confident we'll end up with a combination of 2 of Petracca/Brayshaw/Durdin/Pickett which is an amazing return from the one draft. Big fan of Durdin.

Still pretty young too. I'm happy to give him time.
  23. And ironically, a Freo supporter.
  24. She did. Obviously injuries played a part then. If he still hasn't yet made it back, then maybe that's why.
  25. It is a great rule for those late developers.
