Melbourne superstar Clayton Oliver has undergone surgery on his thumb to fix a niggling problem in his right hand. The Demons on Wednesday confirmed Oliver, 25, had gone under the knife to get on top of a minor issue which had been bothering him in recent weeks. The injury is expected to fully heal over the next few weeks, allowing Oliver to return to full training when his teammates come back from their Christmas break next month.

I think it's important to note that the ruck duels that both JVR and Schache were given the daunting task of going up against Gawn and Grundy were boundary throw in drills. Despite the fact that these throw ins were initiated from the back flack area the tutelage was no doubt for the work they will have to do in the forward pocket against A and B grade rucks. TMac and Brown were not involved in these same drills. No doubt JVR and Schache are initially being given the Weid role and will work up from there.

I see that Demonland Training Reports have been uncredited again.

Nothing has been posted. There was definitely someone there taking photos/video.

Andy Moniz-Wakefield was mostly doing rehab under the shed. There is a rower and a bike set up there as well as free weights and a few other bits of gym equipment and other gym paraphernalia. I don’t believe he participated in any of the running that the other rehabbers were doing. Deakyn Smith was doing a bit of running and as I mentioned joined the main drill for a bit before returning to the rehab group. The guys doing rehab were either doing running ie: laps or short sprints or work in the makeshift gym or a mix of both depending on where they are at in their recovery. They were being monitored and directed by the support medical staff.

Is that a fact? Has it been confirmed? Or is it conjecture.

Off one or two steps too.

Given that this was the last sessions and there is 2 weeks between now and new years I'd say they would be back some time in the first week of the new year or definitely the week after. Whether those sessions are at Casey or Gosch's that is still a mystery. Hopefully the club at the very least advertises 1 session a week as Open at Gosch's. I assume that Casey sessions are the lockdown tactical sessions away from the prying eyes of the public and the media.

From what I observed today in the match sim this is absolutely the case. Max and Grundy were the main ruckman playing against the two backup ruckman/forwards in JVR and Schache. When Gawn or Grundy was not in the ruck they were playing forward as the 2nd forward. I hope that there is some flexibility in the set up and it's not so predictable. We definitely missed Max down back at times last year but due to injuries in our forward line there was a need to have him playing there.

Yes Bayley was out there but most of the forward targets in the drills were the key position forwards so I only rarely sighted him. Having said that Melksham was bobbing up a lot and I noticed him so ...

It's hard to tell from the drills and in particular the match sim which today wasn't a full length match sim (more like 3/4) this means that there weren't all the traditional positions on the ground like flankers and pockets. In addition any time that there is a forward/defender match up it's a key position match up. If I had to guess he's probably too skinny for a midfield roll, certainly not an inside mid role. He might be more suited to a wing. I've liked what I've seen of him on limited occasions.

I will say that the tackling and intensity was absolutely fierce and I was worried that there would be plenty more mishaps. Thankfully there weren't. I was up close and personal for a few Jack Viney tackles and if my arm wasn't already in a sling from shoulder surgery it would have been after witnessing that devastation.

And I think you will need to make that distinction in the future because I would be putting Kye Turner on the Rookie list from the one training sessions that I have seen. 🤪

It was a long training session. Started before 9:30am and was still going at about 11:40am when I had to leave as they were doing some running after a 2 hour skills session.

Yes. Strapping. Autocorrect mishap.

It could apply to both.

Not after that. The boys then took off their footy boots and put on the runners and then did so run throughs but Lever did not participate. He then hopped on the bike that is set up under the shelter. I don't think he looked too worried. That is they weren't icing it or sending him off to get scans.
