He's still a contracted player. Same situation as Jesse at the moment. The difference is May is a free agent next year so we can pinch him for free then if he's still available and we're still interested and he still wants to come to us. -

I thought we can't use our 2019 first round pick due to the rules of not trading more than 2 in a 4 year period (unless getting AFL approval to do so).

I wouldn't be surprised if this was part of Freo's motivation. Cutting their nose to spite their face in order to "teach us a lesson".
