We're going to cop it from all angles this year

On-field and off-field.

We are heading into what looks to be a bleak year for the club, despite it being the 150th. Our poor form, coupled with very low membership figures, the pre-season announcement that two more teams will be added to the comp in the next five years and the Roos rejecting the Gold Coast will ultimately make us a target. This Gold Coast rejection from North will sort of put them out of the firing line for the moment - its the sort of kick up the arse that will make people buy a North membership and forces their admin to be financially proactive. The recent family day for the 150th was yet another example of the incompetence and indfifference of the people running this club. Other posters have rightly noted we must take any opportunities we can to cash in.

Then you've got the plethora of off field discipline issues in the pre-season. Honestly, I can't believe no-ones targeted us for relocation at the very least. Watch the vultures circle this year and question our spot in the competition

l'm not worried about the relocation shyte bacause l don't think it will ever happen but its the form and behaviour that is the worst pre-season l have seen for a long, long time. l reckon we might be getting that fijian born kid from WA next year, from what they say might be worth it. Yes its going to be a long frustrating year, not looking forward to it.

Yep... couldn't be less enthused, and certainly can't remember a time when I WAS less enthused...

I'm ok with the direction the club is taking, but it's going to be such a long time coming. We're going to have retirements galore at the end of the year, which will limit the amount of dead wood DB can rid us of. And then when we DO finally get the list he wants in place, they'll all be yet to have their first shave...

This is probably the MOST important tme to be a member...

wow!! ANOTHER thread like this. far out it's getting ridiculous. can the mods set up a new part of the forum for preseason mindless whinging. then this board can be used to simply talk of facts, interesting observations, memories etc.

I'll say it before some other delusional and naive person comes in and says it:

HAVE FAITH!

That's just so no one else has to say it.

Here's what I have to say:

I hope you're wrong, but I agree with you. Terrible year a head.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
