Why does everyone think we dont stand a chance?

Im amazed at reading everyones opinions that we're not a chance of landing Judd. Why? Dick Pratt has pretty much given up hope. Nothing has been said about Essendon, and what has Collingwood got to give apart from Cloke,Thomas or Pendlebury?

Rusling, Reid and Pick 14.

They could trade Reid for a top 10 pick easily IMO.

I,m sure WCE would much prefer that than we could toss up.

WC said they wanted two first round draft picks:

BETTING on which club Chris Judd will play for next season has been suspended after an avalanche of money for Melbourne with Darwin Sportsbet.

"The Demons were backed from $9 into $3.50 then into $2 by Saturday so we've shut it down. The money suggests it's a done deal," Hannah said.

For what it is worth - I still think we are in the mix. All the rumours going around are just that, rumours. For every positive one about Melbourne, there is a positive one about Collingwood so I guess they all just negate each other.

We have to remember one very important thing, at the end of the day it is still up to West Coast and not Chris Judd. Even if he nominates us, it is not a done deal until the Eagles say so.

Don't give up yet - I am still having visions of Judd/Jonesy/Brock carving up the centre of the G in '08 and beyond! Am I the only one still daring to dream?

No mate - only my dream still includes Bruce and the grand return of Moloney

WHY? Anyone have concrete evidence - NO - all just speculation and that is why I am not giving up hope yet!

Because we were definite outsiders before we met Judd and Collingwood were his initial preference. That's why Sheehan, Smith, etc are sticking to the Judd to Collingwood line. His manager didn't directly say it but it wasn't refuted that Judd favoured the Pies.

Now a lot has happened since then and we impressed during our meetings, particularly Bailey, but was it enough ?

Collingwood are rightly favourites.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
