Bombers' coaching appointment?

Featured Replies

Hmmm, I tipped him.

Good news for us re: Judd.

ok//okay...

??

Wow what an inspired choice!

Their thorough and exhaustive selection process to get "not the best available coach, but the best coach" has delivered them Hardwick.

A 3 year assistant under Clarkson as an apprenticeship and thats it?

Not sure if I was a Bombers fan I would be too happy with that.

Time will tell though!

With Hardwick as coach the dons will now be known as the Essendon Snipers, if they adapt his style of play. We will see plenty of Essendon at the Tribunal next year especially Dustin Fletcher. I never liked Hardwicks ego when he entered the football ground. Essendon will run out onto the ground with the theme song "Macho Macho Man". I can't wait to see him dummy spit and i don't think he will have much respect from the playing group if he coaches the way he played.

true given that hawks had quite a lot of players reported

lately

hardwick was in our top 3 candidates...

so basically we got the best coach, and essendon got what was left over...

oh thats GOLD !!!

Damien Hardwick - announced just then!

You need a hearing aid. HARDWICK WAS ANNOUNCED AS THE FRONT RUNNER - NOT COACH!!!

There is a betting market for which team "MARK THOMPSON" will coach in 08 on "sportingbet" and "essendon" are a$1.70 with geelong at$2.05.. and him not coaching, or any other team at $51.00...

do you think they are that stupid to offer $2.05 for geelong if "hardwick" is coach of ess.!!!!!!!!

some people should take a gripp.and confirm with their parents before posting !! "crikey"

it was still funny :)

The Bombers' Board has shown itself to be totally inept in its digusting treatment of Kevin Sheedy by announcing the end of his contract so far out from the end of the season. They treated a club icon like [censored] and for what? Two months later they still haven't finalised their coaching selection and the decision has almost certainly cost them a chance to get you know who. Yesterday they allowed the news on the non appointment of Neale Daniher to be leaked before he was even told about it.

The draft camp is happening in less than a week's time and the trade period the week after. What an embarassment!

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
