"It's just not fair!"

Those are the words that I can see coming out of my mouth if Judd goes to Collingwood, Carlton or Essendon.

With all of the money and members these clubs have it just doesn't seem right that the best player in the all of the land would go and help them.

These clubs have no excuses with regards to how they perform. With all of the money and facilities that they have, they should be pushing for top four spots far more often than they have been.

Obviously Carlton had all of the draft penalties, but with moneybags running the show, there really is no excuse now.

The fact is, Melbourne needs Chris Judd.

What Judd wants is another matter all together and he has his own interests to look after, I just had to get all that off my chest.

Rant over.

That is my exact thoughts, Melbourne would be a club of significance again if he chooses to come to us.

just hope n wait, dont reade into media reports until ats all done , i dont want to think he will def be coming here only to have my hopes up, but im finding that quite hard

it sure would be a nice 150th birthday present for us

This looks like a good place to put this;

Something I'd like to put out there; People are saying we NEED Chris Judd. Someone over at 'ology has suggested that Judd could even influence the fate of the club, and that by choosing to come to Melbourne he could have a legacy, rather than just being another superstar at a big club (credit to RedLegs (I think)). I thought that was a good point.

My question is; Is this what Judd wants? Does he want to be needed? I know he doesn't want to be a superstar coming to a no hope team. We aren't a no hope team, but as a club we are a decaying relic desperately in need of a refurbishment.

Also; if you were MFC, would you put this neediness to him, in a subtle way? You'd hope Steve Harris and Connolly won't crawl in and beg (knowing our beloved MFC, that just might be their plan), but would you put it to him that he could be so much more to the Demons than he would be at the other clubs?

I get what you're saying Diablo, but I think at any club Judd will be the messiah.

Afterall, it's Judd. ;)

I'll be disappointed if he doesn't come to Melbourne, but the whole thing has developed pretty fast meaning I haven't had enough time to get fully attached yet, contrary to what my posts about the significance of his shiny red car and navy/black jacket suggest.

I hope, pray even, that Judd won't see us as a desperate, hopeless unit who will completely crumble if we don't get him.

Because we won't.

We have a lot to look forward to next year with or without him- a new coach, new members on the board, the long-awaited return of players like Rivers and Bartram.

Obviously Judd thrown in to the mix would be absolute bliss, but chances are we won't get him. :(

for what its worth there is a reason for the shoddy treatment in the media ( and its not theyre fault its theyre tradition )

they struggle for insight or compassion as they write copy on "RESULTS" !!!!!

WHEN MELB; WERE SUCCESSFUL THE MEDIA WAS ALL OVER THEM IN THE 50'S AND EARLY 60'S..

when you spend 40 years in mediocraty and failure !!!

what do you expect them to do??

as for fault and the blame game ?? well it starts with the APATHETIC "BOARDS" and " COMMITTEES" who are a law unto themselves looking for a free lunch.( supporters too lazy to vote them out)

MELB. SUPPORTERS ARE TOO POLITE !! and willing to go along with the status quo.

Please note the absence of "ASSETS and 'INVESTMENTS" or ANY SUCCESSFUL FINANCIAL STRUCTURE IN 40 YEARS.!!!!

Its not as if MFC doesn't have enough "HIGH ROLLERS"..

Where have they been for 40 years ?????????????????

So when there is "APPATHY" and"SELF SERVING" at the top!!

it tends to then permiate down to the staff ( notice the "AFL" questioning the high turnover of staff recently !!!)

& the football dept. the players play accordingly( anybody catch NATHAN BROWNS comment about after match meetings !!when he compared them to homer simpson with the " BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH" COMMENT)

"DISGRACEFUL"!!!

and then the tv reporters comment after ,when he said and i quote !!" NO WONDER THEY ARE ON THE BOTTOM AND NEVER SUCCESSFUL".

.

and finally then the supporters fail to turn up to games, let alone buy memberships and goods.

Ask yourselves what was the difference BEFORE "64" AND AFTER 64

THREE MAJOR PEOPLE.1' JIM CARDWELL.

2; NORMAN SMITH

3: RON BARASSI( leading a champion team of players excepting nothing less than a proffessional attitude.

szondy preffered to spend time talking about his 3000 ,classical CD collection when i was talking to him at a pre game dinner.

paul gardner according to reports spends more time overseas or is too busy with his own business.not much time spent promoting

the club compared to other BUSY presidents.

But there is always "HOPE".!!!!

AS DEAN BAILEY does seem to have some grunt and intelligence..

As for the juddster ??? well one can only "HOPE" !!!

Don't listen to the Media or take interest in the odds, they have no idea what's going on.

Eg) Our new coach. No one had Dean Bailey down as our coach in the media, He was listed as "any other coach" coz they knew they had no idea.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
