Travis Johnstone

Featured Replies

According to the Footy Record yesterday, Travis Johnstone's kicks find a target only 68.9% of the time (the league average for midfielders is 73.7%). By comparison, he's not that much better than Godfrey (64.4%), about on a par with Moloney (67.4%) and Jones (67.8%), and well behind Cameron Bruce (71.1%). Seems to counter the myth that TJ is a wonderful, accurate kick.

For overall disposal efficiency in 2007, Travis is the second worst at Melbourne (71.8%), only in front of Colin Sylvia (67.9%). Even Godfrey is 75.0%.

i agree with this, his disposal has fallen away alot the last season or two... while he can be brilliant with his disposal and spot up a target out of no where, he can also try to be too cute and accurate which results in him turning the ball over alot... he really needs to improve in this area before he's back to his best...

Unforntunately he has a problems outside football. He will be offered for trade for that reason.

Ive often thought about Johnstone being traded. But when you think about it would be pointless as he is at his peak of his football career.

That's exactly why we'd trade him.

He's significantly older than our core group of youngsters coming through - Bate, McLean, Dunn et al - but probably still has strong trade value.

If he can keep his injuries down next season he should be very valuable for us.

He'd be more valuable to someone who wanted to add some icing to their cake. To continute the analogy, we're still mixing ours.

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG after a dismal performance in Gather Round to face the reigning dual Premiers Brisbane. What do expect to see from the Dees today?

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
