OK we have to find some positives ... obviously I'm going to have to stretch ...

  • Frawley! remember that he is an 18 yr old future key back. cannot expect him to be dependable being so young, but showed tonight he is definitely a keeper and he has all the attributes (pace, marking prowess, footy smarts and good height) to become a great kpp in years to come.

  • Jones...he is going to be a 10 year player for us, a nuggety quality midfielder who we can depend on to always put in his all. happy with this kid

  • White...the old fella still has run in his legs. while a second ruckman is still a problem, white's form means that the ruck won't really be a significant problem until he reitres in 2 years.

  • Bate and Newton. while they weren't fantastic today, both looked like they can be quality key forwards in years to come.

  • McLean, Bell, Moloney and Sylvia had dog days, but it's obvious to me that they are quality players who will form the nucleus in years to come. Mclean may be struggling, but it's very obvious that he has the ability, perseverence and mental strength to be a great 10 year player for us. supporters should not be worried about these 4 players.

  • Ferguson, Brown, Ward, Holland played so badly, with such ridiculously bad disposal that it will be an easy decision for the next coach to cull them at years end. clearly, anyone over 30 who is not an integral contributer (Ward, Brown, Holland, Bizzel, Pickett) must be delisted.

only 5 weeks top go

we weren't as bad as collingwood....they lost by 93 pts

Sylvinator - agree with your comments

Lot's of positives for anyone taking over - Rivers, Davey, Petterd, Johnstone, Bartam, Whelan all not out there and a few players today are still reaally coming back from injury.

A second ruckman, another fast mid-fielder, and another 190 cm plus player are needed. So too a real tough summer in the gym and on the tackle bags.

likewise.lol

me 3, I also picked up ebert in the forward line when I saw who was named in our backline

Another positive is that Bruce kicking was ALOT better than usuall (not fantastic but good)

No positives

Two weeks ago Port Adelaide beat West Coast by more than 15 goals and today they're almost premiership favourites. I'm not suggesting that the MFC will be flag favourites in a fortnight but fortunes can change in relatively quick time - don't forget that.

Our percentage is still better than Richmonds, just........I think  !!!

streching it is right

i feel gutted watching white. he's still been very good, but from visualization holland looked to have more of an influence in the ruck. i'd say he was close in centre clearances won when compared to white.

newton looks to be getting better and better, jones as a bloody hard nut, macca can't keep it up forever, unfortunately!

Other positives:

- we probably won't be saddled with a Daniher clone Riley as coach ?

- we said we will help shape the final eight and we did that yesterday.

- Melbourne can make an informed decision about a couple of players for next year.

POSITIVES (for me) = I won $16, put $100 on Port after seeing our "backline". This season is a joke and I couldn't give a flying $&^$ how we go for the rest of the year. Backing the opposition and hoping we get belted is better than bank interest and fun in a morbid kind of way......

We need to get Fit.

We need to get tougher

We need to get faster

We need to get rid of Holland, Godfrey, Miller, Ferg, Brown, CJ, Warnock. So we dont turn it over as much.

We need to move all our best players to defence.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
