NEALE DANIHER - TO FINISH AT END OF THE YEAR

Featured Replies

Thankyou Neale.

He has always my favourite person to hear speak about football, no empty platitudes, open and honest on every issue including his own future.

He has given the mighty dees his all. In everything he has done he has been honest and put up with more than a 10 year coach probably should.

Thanks for everything and I wish you success in your next coaching appointment (except in matches against the dees).

I'd like to congratulate Neale Daniher for ten years of sterling service for the Melbourne Football Club. He took us over as wooden spooners and had to coach for several years under great difficulty. There was the salary cap fiasco that cost us draft picks through no fault of the coach. There were the boardromm battles which destabilised the club and yet he coached on with dignity. There was the near financial collapse of a few years ago and he stood up and not only coached well but he spruiked for the club and this year, he's had to suffer through an injury plague as many of his best players went down injured. He took everything on the chin and in his stride and in the end showed his class by the selfless way he announced that this was his last contract year at the MFC.

Well done to the Reverend. Though the results on the field might not show it this year, you have truly helped lay the foundation for a solid future of the club.

Good to see someone recognising what a great asset Neale has been over the past 10 years. He has put up with a lot more than most AFL coaches and has a recod that matches nearly all of them. I think it is a pity that he will not be applying for the job again at the end of the year as I am quite sure he is the right man to coach the club over the next 2 years at least.. NO ONE - NO ONE would have done better this year with the injuries we have had and it speaks volumes about the citics that this has not been front and centre in any debate over how we have performed.

I wish him all the best in any future endeavour and thank him fo the sense of humour, patience and grace he has shown through some very trying times...

Remember while he lost the board he never lost the players. His absence leaves a giant hole at the MFC!!!!!!!!!!

Well said Spirit.

I would also like to extend my thanks to Neale. While I was unsure of his appointment, there is no doubt that the last 10 years in the main have been a happy timeframe for the Melbourne Footy Club. Neale, your personality is something that everyone should look up to and strive to emulate. I wish you all the best in your future coaching years and sincerely hope you win a premiership with a club.

Thanks for some wonderful times.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
