Maysie was here this morning. He’s in really good spirits. I told him how happy we are about the appeal and he said he’s not sure (of a win) either way but we’ll ‘go hard’ and see how it goes.

Spaz stoked to be over the concussion thing.

I literally didn’t watch a nanosecond of training since little Bellanie was so distracting. It was players’ family day today and when that little girl is around I’m cactus. Koz brought her over and she immediately looked for my hands since she remembers I’ve always got variations of red and blue nails. Currently they’re glitter red and blue… Bellanie approves. Up until recently she didn’t say Dada, in fact she said everything but Dada. I told Koz to be patient and it will happen. Today Ardu said that she and Bellanie went home (Darwin) for a week and Bellanie clearly missed Koz because since they’ve been home she says Dada all the time. I showed her a pic of Koz on my phone and her reaction was priceless. She smiled from ear to ear and said ‘Dada.’ Bless.

Another important training report article…

Tracc doesn’t mind the Colgate ad. despite Heeney taking a hanger over him. He said they filmed for hours and it was cool. He didn’t know until he saw the ad. that the footage they used was the Heeney speccy but he doesn’t have a problem with it.

Cold, blustery day with a few Wallabies' fans in attendance. Casey out first, including Jeffo, Culley and Adams. We'll know the carryover emergency when Casey starts tomorrow at 11.05 am.

Not much to report really - as Ghosty mentioned, amongst the injured players May was present. Just another short Captain's Run.

Henderson present, but not selected for Casey tomorrow...

I didn’t see Sesto there, HW. Did you? I read on the injury report he’s out for four weeks, the injury being “Face”

Don't think Sestan was there. Yes. had surgery - incident at training. Hopefully he can come back for Casey - and they make finals. Casey should win tomorrow, bye next week, then Lions away and Box Hill at home - tough finishing games....

Thanks Ghostwriter and Harvey Wallbanger, glad it has been a quiet family day Captains Run, I am hoping that they have freshened the boys up for this game. Glad to hear that Mayzie attended and in good spirits let’s hope that sanity prevails. Bad luck for Ollie Seston he was playing well before injured. Thanks again hope both teams play well and kick straight tomorrow. Dees by 23, Casey by 57 running away.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #42 Aidan Johnson

The VFL premiership player was recruited from Werribee to alleviate Melbourne’s forward line woes and give a chop out in the ruck, but he managed only five senior matches in his first season at the club. At times, he was a dominant force at VFL level.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #44 Luker Kentfield

An exciting young key forward, Kentfield was selected in the 2024 mid-season draft but has yet to make his AFL debut. He was sidelined by a severe bout of pneumonia over the summer, which consequently limited his pre-season. Upon his return a month into the season, he commenced in defence but ultimately impressed with his progress at Casey, particularly in the latter part of the season as a strong marking goal kicking forward.

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourne’s response to last week’s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coach’s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast. In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourne’s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.
