Very interesting to know, though; have I come on purpose or have I simply walked here by chance? Raskolnikov.

Raskolnikov?

Thought it was fritter after he found himself in the defensive arc applying some all team defensive pressure.

Not been on Demonland much recently so not sure if this has been discussed anywhere.

Where is Gus these days? I've always believed and hoped he'd continue to be involved with the MFC post his playing days. Although I fully understand if he needed a break from 'everything' after his magnificent playing career was cruelly cut short.

Maybe footy is not part of short term thinking, but he is so loved and respected as well as intelligent and insightful, that he would be a huge acquisition to the club in any role he and the club deem suitable.

Anyone have an insight to how he's travelling and what he's up to?

I went to one of those events where a few players come and talk etc. The one I went to was Maysy, Clarry, and Max. They were asked about Gus and if they’d been in contact with him. They had and said he got into some exclusive commerce or economics program at Oxford that only takes 30 people per year and he was going. They didn’t give a ton of detail, just that he either was studying in London or getting ready to go.

No idea how accurate it is, but I can’t imagine they’d say something so specific if it wasn’t true.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
