Melbourne Rebels - Rugby Union (SRP)

Anyone follow Rugby here?

Melbourne Rebels are in financial strife and their ongoing future depends upon this upcoming season. They need to perform on the pitch (they have a good squad for this season) and to get more bums on seats to show there is life in Victorian Rugby.

If you have some interest in this code, pop out to some Rebels home matches. Round 1 of Super Pacific Rugby against the A.C.T. Brumbies is on this Friday night at AAMI Stadium.

I've got a passing interest in Rugby Union, played it in school and it's definitely my preferred Rugby code. I followed Super Rugby when I was younger tending to watch the Brumbies and for some reason the Auckland Blues a fair bit.

For whatever reason and I'll plead some ignorance on this, I've never seen one Melbourne Rebels game. I honestly wouldn't know one thing about them apart from the fact that Macqueen was the inaugural coach.

Is there much promotion for it because I just never hear anything about their games or anything? I would probably be up for checking out a game.

Promotion/marketing seems to be pretty poor TBH. Next home match is Friday 5th April, Melbourne Rebels play Fijian Drua. The Fijians usually play open, attacking rugby so could be an entertaining match.
