RICKY PETTERD TO DEBUT VERSUS FREO, and possibly Colin Garlan

Seriously, I can't remember a time (perhaps mid-90's) when we were so screwed.

Neitz, Rivers, McLean, Johnstone, Robertson, Moloney, Sylvia, Pickett, Bartram....what did we do to deserve the footy gods wrath?

I reckon Ricky Petterd will be a good player for this footy club, but has anyone seen how skinny he is? No way he should be playing senior footy (1) because the season's not over yet and (2) he's simply not physically ready.

Last week we were lucky not to lose by 80+ points, this week we are facing an absolute obliteration at the hands of Freo who match up well against our best side.

Ummmm, bring on 08?

I understand the reason for dropping Bate, but I wish it wouldn't happen, other than that I'm reasonably happy with those changes if true. one other thing though, I'm surprised that Buckley isn't going to have an opportunity before Petterd, my understanding was that he was fairly close to senior selection.

Bate is out of touch and needs a week back at Sandy.

I'm also suprised Buckley hasn't been given a run this week. Pickett is of some concern. He'll play as a pinch hitter of the bench.

I hope Pettard makes the cut. I will be PUMPED to see some new blood in the red and blue.

fingers crossed he makes the cut.

Dunn will play over garland.

Just maybe the footygods are making this happen to cause us to make the necessary changes required in order for our future success.

Why, it's for his own good, his future depends on learning the right things to do. Or as Barassi would say, "learn to do the right thing at the right time".

At 78 kg he's already heavier than McDonald and Brown whilst not being significantly taller.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
