On holidays at Goolwa Beach, don't laugh, we go precisely because it's not Beach Weather.

Only able to watch the replay today and have only watched the first 3 quarters so far.

Some Observations:

- A good 'Team Effort', especially considering that Melbourne was without 6 of its Premiership side.

-There were many contributors: Melksham, Bedford, Dunstan, McDonald, Weideman, players who did the hard and unrewarded things.

-In the first half, when Hawthorn had most of the play, it was difficult for Spargo, Weidemann, Fritsch, McDonald and Harmes, and Brown to make their cases. They all made contributions during the game.

-I note some petty remarks about Jordon and Melksham: cheap shots.

-I like the idea ofย  Smith, and desperately want him to succeed but...I'd love to see him play a full game where he 'nails it'. The turn around game from which confidence builds.ย

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithyโ€™s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and itโ€™s 1ยฝ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.ย

  • PREGAME: Geelong

After a one-year reprieve, the Demons return down the freeway to Kardinia Park โ€” the site of both one of our greatest triumphs and one of our darkest days โ€” as they face the Cats under Friday night lights. This one could get ugly. Who comes in, and who comes out?
