INTO DARKNESS: THE BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS

Featured Replies

I reckon the 13000 melbourne supporters who endured yesterday's performance deserve medals.

But what concerns me more than the obvious deficiency in skills, is the so called 'elite structures' that Neeld talked about when he was first appointed. It's like ground-hog day every time we get the ball- if and when we finally get a uncontested possession in the back half we send the ball up the boundary line, where we inevitably turn it over and get completely cut to ribbons on the rebound. As much as I hate seeing players fumble (just pick the bloody thing up!) - this structural flaw should be the primary concern.

Why?

When they get it they kick it to the opposition anyway.

I was retrenched 8 weeks ago. I am also a demon for life, where the club direct debits from my account monthly. Suffice to say my wife & I are looking at cutting costs where possible. Why the hell should I keep forking out money I can't really afford towards this "club" anymore? They even sent me a letter a couple of weeks ago asking me to become a member. I bloody am! Have been for over 10 years. No idea.

I received the same letter... !! What were the overall postage costs for this waste of time.... Are our admin staff also incompetent... (being asked to become a member when ALREADY a Member)

Just look after yourself mate. I've been there twice and in the end this club has has given very little back on the field after decades of support, memberships and $ thrown at it. Let the club and players sort their own shyte out. The players, coach and many within the FD are getting well paid to dish up this crap so don't feel guilty if you cant contribute till you sort things. Hope you have something lined up.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
