Your Plan-A Forward Line

Featured Replies

I agree. I feel Viney could offer a %^$& load of defensive pressure in the fwd line as well as a way to ease him in to afl footy. he would chase and tackle like a demon up there. create turnovers and opportunities for the likes of davey/blease/ byrnes

And so Jones is our lone clearance player again?..... Not great. I would expect Davey/Blease/Byrnes to create their own opportunities through forward pressure.

HF: Blease Clark Pederson

FF: Davey Dawes Byrnes

3 talls, 3 smalls. The 3rd tall lead up forward is dead so this should give 3 blokes that, at the very least, will crash packs and halve the contest, and 3 smalls to crumb and tackle.

Howe's goal kicking is too poor to justify a spot forward. Use him on a wing where he can use his engine and marking.

I would also not be unhappy with Nicholson being used as a defensive forward on the Yarran's, Deledio's. Looks like he might be squeezed out of the backs but I hope his pace, endurance and flair aren't lost all together.

I dont think the words "Viney" and "easing in" really work together.

Surely our (probable) best in and under player will be placed at the bounce though? Can't have Jones going it alone again, we got smashed in clearances last year.

He'll get his opportunities through the middle but it has to be remembered Viney is still only 18. I'd prefer to see the more seasoned bodies of Sylvia, Grimes, Byrnes, Rodan and even Evans provide the bulk of support to Jones through the middle.

Let's give this future star the protection he deserves in his first season, playing alongside the likes of Mitch and Dawesy. The pressure he'd bring to bear on defenders looking for the easy route out of the backline would be absolute gold.

Yeah I'd love his pressure and presence in the forward line where we do need some defensive ammo, I just can't see any of the guys you mentioned being the in and under types to extract the ball for us like Viney seems to be. Need more than Jones trying to win the ball, reckon that's why we would have taken Viney with pick 4 if we had to.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
